Must be getting fairly close to a below average month? (if anyone knows the stats so far)? Don't recall very much if any mild weather during November at all (and don't look like warming up rest of the week either)

Ninth air frost at -2.9C.

With all this cold around, surely it's only a matter time that many of us see something white and fluffy?! (Jealous of our Aberdeenshire/Moray/Highland pals).

Aye I am thinking that the cold air over Scandinavia will play a part and possibly with some luck sooner rather that later...

Hopefully because I stole everybody's thunder this year doesn't mean the rest of you will steal my snaw!

06z GFS looks average to below average for most of us for most of next week. What run/model were you looking at?

Gfs 06 ensembles for Edinburgh, roughly from the 19th temperatures should rise back up to seasonal averages or even slightly above (red line=seasonal average and white line=average of the ensembles).

Not many of us live at 850hpa...ground temps are at or below average for almost all of us next week.

Averages for here in November, maximum 9.3 C, minimum 3.2 C

If a change is afoot, hopefully that doesn't equate to the wet mess parts of England are enduring.

I'm really enjoying these bright cold and dry autumnal days.

Temp 0c but looks more like summer.

Usually we are one of the driest areas in Scotland but with  all these NE winds in the last few weeks we are getting a lot of rain and hill snow next to the coast.

Taking my rain, ideal ;)

Although that hasn’t stopped the fields turning to sludge as normal.

Been a chilly November but sadly too mild down here for anything but a hint of sleet at 4am driving home in a heavy burst.

Got to love the variability of Scottish weather.

Weather today a complete opposite of yesterday's - calm winds, unbroken sunshine and a severe frost.

Overnight low of -4.6c leading to treacherous roads in the morning and some beautiful frosty windscreens!

Max temperature of 0.9c here, so the frost basically never lifted.  Already below freezing again so its going to be another cold one tonight.

Thanks for the link, never knew about that table with all the GEFS members.

Strange how low the ground temperatures are compared to the 850 temps that would suggest pretty average conditions for November.

To get them for your location just get the latitude and longitude from here

and pop them in here

Just a NB on the models - I really doubt the milder air predicted by the 00z & yesterdays GEFs will make it to Scotland...

Yes one has to be careful not to read the model thread and relate it to our weather as we often differ quite significantly. I have had more frost this winter already than the whole of last year and it's not even winter.... If that makes sense

To be fair Steve and a few others do take time to comment on other areas which is always appreciated.

And of course a few of our own who are top notch.

Definitely a much colder November so far for NE Scotland. The cold looks set to continue until at least Tuesday.

Starting to think we could be heading into the freezer this winter.....

It was a very frosty start this morning with thick freezing fog between Crianlarich and Glen Ogle. Then just a cold day with hazy sunshine at Loch Katrine with Ben Venue (Miniature Mountain) as a backdrop:

Beautiful!!! It's been a good autumn for late colour, presumably aided by the absence of anything vaguely stormy in these parts.

5pm and the temp has already fallen to -2C. Feels more like January.

Aye, car thermometer was showing - 1 or - 2C pretty much all of the way from Inverurie to Alford on my way home from work around 4:30pm. Lovely clear moonlight night out at the moment, with my car windscreen no doubt freezing up again ready for me to have a repeat performance of today's epic defrosting session.
