It's not warm by any stretch of the imagination but absolutely massive difference. Blue skies just about (albeit breezy) the complete difference compared to yesterday

Some sunshine here today but also some hefty showers coming thru.. yesterday was foul. And then the BBC stole my sleet signal.. how very dare they.

No-one will be complaining if the 00z GFS comes off, especially you @101_North. It would make you zip it about autumn being gash

In fairness to anyone in or near Edinburgh you were the unlucky few who had a relatively wet October. Most of us were somewhere around average or on the drier side:

Hopefully we have record snow from the east if the pattern remains the same in or near Edinburgh

Through the winter months

Hahahaha - it's been stained glass windowing brutal round here. I've deliberately stayed away to spare you my misery. You're welcome

Winter 1983/84

Couple of pictures taken at Alford looking east along the road to Aberdeen.

Jan 1984. One of my favourite weather months ever. From the pub doorway. Would be very happy with a repeat even though Dec 1983 was pretty meh.

:shok:

I don't actually mind looking at snowy scenes, I just don't particularly like being in amongst it.

However, as needs must:

The grandsons, Glen Esk, Jan 2010 (I think), might have been Dec 2009.

It's been an OK day here, chilly, a bit cloudy, even a spot of light rain in the afternoon, but totally calm so not feeling too bad. Temp down to 3C or so on my way home from work.

Just to illustrate how much rain we had Fri through to Mon. With most of our garden being sloped in one way or another, it doesn't tend to look particularly waterlogged even when it's been very wet. What does happen though is that it soaks in and slowly drains. When I got home tonight, about 2 clear days after the last real rain, the gravel parking area in front of the house is still 'oozing' at the downslope corner, with the water running down the tarmac driveway. Could be lethal in the morning if the temp drops overnight.

Yes never seen the ground so wet for a long time no ploughing, dung spreading or any other field work. .Worst .thing that could happen now is that it freezes up and we have to try and do everything in the spring when the ground finally dries up again. Currently 4c, dank, misty, overcast and calm. Can"t even finish the digging in the garden.A real  gloomy November afternoon after a brighter morning.

A day of two halves.

Morning was dry, cloudy and cold with a max of 5c.

Afternoon wet with sporadic outbreaks of heavy rain, temperature hovering around 4 to 5c and light winds.

Towards Aberdeen the showery rain changed to sleet or hail for a short period in the mid-afternoon, causing a number of major accidents on the A90 just north of Aberdeen - Fubar News Link

Splats of sleet this evening. Saturday's snow fest appears to have drifted south? Cold.

I like Aberfeldy, I could live there

You could do worse Catch. Lots to do in the area. Good views of the hills and mountains. Weather wise for somewhere at  only 100 mtrs asl it has a great snow lying record and relatively dry and sunny Summers.

Having spent 12 months in Crieff until last week i can confirm Aberfeldy is a real gem of a place. sunshine and showers again this morning. over in the mad house things seem to be bubbling along nicely much the same as last year tho and well the less said about last winter the better.

Rain cleared at lunchtime but since then we have had a run of heavy showers with almost sleety hail at one point coming in off the North Sea. Showed up well on the radar but not forecasted very well at all. We were supposed to be mostly dry once the rain cleared. Cold in the wind at 5C.

A very wintry look and feel to the weather today with sleety showers coming in off the Firth  from the NE in the afternoon.  Hills all round the Firth building up a cover of snow down to about 1000 to 1500 feet with the whole of Ben Wyvis visible from here  white down to the lower slopes. Clearing now so looks like some frost will develop. Currently 3c.
