First frost here this morning ...........the air is noticeably now much colder and has been the past couple of mornings

Hopefully a much better winter than last year which was disappointing....very snowless compared to 2017/18

Something that I've noticed a bit different this year is the amount of geese that are flying over the house in the last few days seems to be a hell of a lot of them !

Instead of flying south seems to be more of an east/south east direction, they're heading in.

Yes I forgot to post about the geese I heard a few nights ago and also a few weeks ago.

I was lucky enought to witness this lift-off at Montrose Basin not long after sunrise this morning. The noise was ear-splitting.There are around 50,000 there at present and numbers will build over the next couple of weeks or so before the majority disperse to The Wash and Morecambe Bay.

Pink-footed Geese

It was bright enough but darn cold, 6C and a brisk chilly breeze.

A clear starry night this evening, and so I am expecting another chilly one.

On an old map, the MOD thread would have had "there be Dragons ! Written on its location.

Been away for 6 months nice to know that in this ever changing world,  there are still thing that you can reliably depend upon, arguments and tempramentality in the MOD thread being one.

@Kirkcaldy Weather those are my new favourite cloud type/formation...Asperitas clouds!

Had them forming here earlier.

The leftover crumbs from Storm Lorenzo that we are getting is currently giving me wind gusts of 30mph...few hairs out of place and a couple of leaves have blown past me on the way home! Peak will be 40mph and a few hours of heavy rain later tonight/early morning. (Looks bad for the West Coast of Ireland)

Have a good night all!

Apologies for quoting my own post, but this morning was rinse and repeat except it was -3.5C passing the same spot at the same time.

Thanks , I wasn't sure what type they were but did think they were quite rare as couldn't remember if I had seen them before.

Can't help but wish that would have been snow, hopefully similar situations arise this winter

Hahaha yes it had to be done! Never see any weather related pictures from Scotland on that page - everywhere else in Europe has loads.

Had a couple in Summer as well - we have great/exciting weather pictures from Scotland all year round so it’s nice to see us get noticed!

Well I’m off to get the canoe out as it’s going to be a total washout here all weekend!

Have a good weekend everyone and @Hairy Celt those pictures are incredible!

Not directly weather related, but may have a  seasonal relevance.

Perhaps @Northernlights can comment.

This white stuff has been applied to the former barley field ( harvested 10 days ago or so) on several days over the past week. It blows into my garden.

Lime?
