Totally agree, its not a nice place to be in winter months. unless its snowing in the south east of the UK then winters a bust and all the toys are flying about. Scotland could be buried under 2 foot of snaw and nobody would notice. apart from us in here of course..

Aye, that's why its much better for your sanity to just follow this thread, we have enough of our own experts anyway, especially once things get into the 'reliable time frame'. The MOD thread, sadly, should only be visited for entertainment purposes.

Glorious morning here with blue skies and bright sunshine. Started off foggy though, especially in the valleys, and everything is still covered with a heavy dew. Complete contrast to yesterday's cold constant drizzle-fest.

It has been a beautiful evening, mild and calm, just a suggestion of a sun pillar on returning from the evening doggie walk. It was a reminder of the shortening days in which twilight encroaches quickly.

The bats were out too.

Fabulous almost  cloud free  sunset here too probably the best of the summer!!!! spoilt only by the criss crossing of contrails in the sky.

Gave the longest amount of daylight to cart in 160  round bales of straw.today in perfect conditions

Yesterday was glorious and today looking the same.

Both days starting off with thick fog, clearing by 8am but leaving everything soaking wet thanks to the dew.  Spider webs beautifully highlighted as a result, that is the sure sign of autumn.

Max temperature yesterday was 20c but the humidity was very high so actually felt quite oppressive.

Amazingly, areas of concrete/tarmac in the shade never dried up over the day irrespective of the temperature.

Cold night overnight though with a min of 4c here.

Temperature rocketing up at the moment (already 10c), so will be fascinating to see what max we get to today.

Another fabulous day unbroken sunshine.I spent the day in garden digging up the weeds from this summers downpours and watching them shrivel in the sun and wind. Reached 21c here this afternoon.

Young Mr Northenlights cleared another field of bales and almost finished the last one so bare stubble fields look wintry on a summer like day.

Here is my thunderstorm risk map for tomorrow image.thumb.png.70ead8e52c4fdedf4eba9777d296f8b4.png an uncertain and messy picture with a front moving in from the west but only a very localized area of CAPE which looks like developing in the highlighted area, timings also uncertain with some bringing it in during the morning and others not until evening (my personal guess would be from around 4pm through til about 8/9pm) main risks - heavy rain with a flooding risk and lightning.

A fine start to the day but with the first of the frontal cloud making for a for  a spectacular sunrise. 003.thumb.JPG.95cf7eec0c25f4e210800c92db8bed38.JPGCurrently  8.5c

Cattle have been lying flat out in the sun these last few days. They will probably be looking for shelter in the next week at times.

Lovely pink and purple skies with rain veils away to the north just now. Och you know what they say about red skies in morning. Been a cracking three days up here, but good things never last sadly. It's a balmy 14.3 c just now, we'll see how we do the rest of the day.

Yep, been a lovely spell of weather, and hopefully stay dry at least today for me to get the front lounge window painted. Really needs it before the winter, as did the two bedroom windows of the front of the house that I did yesterday.

Looking unsettled after today, but could we be seeing something distinctly colder as we enter October. A lot of scatter after the 30th, as expected at that range, but a lot of runs taking quite a drop in 850s temps.
