Very windy yesterday and we stayed mostly on the dry side of the dividing line between dry and wet.Gusts of wind were a bit of a nuisance as we baled another block of hay as the rows of hay were blown about but without the wind it would never have been dry enough to bale. The heat of the last weekend really made this late hay  it is still a green colour.

Seems we are on the line again today between wet and dry with a gusty wind overcast skies odd spits of rain and 20c

I can see exactly what you mean. At most it's a little drizzle, it won't even dampen the drought parched ground:

We were on tour yesterday, MrsC is still convinced somewhere round Strathyre/Lochearnhead/Crianlarich would be good to move to and doesn't seem to quite get how wet it can be all the time. I tried to convince her that somewhere further east like Aberfeldy might be better but she's not buying it.

We had a good tootle about from here to Pitlochry via Callander, Lochearnhead, Killin, Kenmore & Aberfeldy. It was pishy wet in the west but quite nice for a wonder around Pitlochry later in the afternoon:

Evening stroll in Callander:

20190829_192534.thumb.jpg.d6f006e8ecc4e7e824fe266472b79a64.jpg20190829_193417.thumb.jpg.dc928d4e0aa3c328257c1255adb38cd4.jpg

When I was at school up in that area I was taught that Killin has double the rainfall of Kenmore / Aberfeldy but only two thirds of the snow lying days. Perhaps the Loch influences temperature slightly at the Western end. Met O reports from Artalnaig on Loch Tay do show fewer snow days than those from Camserney near Aberfeldy or Faskally near Pitlochry. Warmth from the Loch perhaps?

St Fillans likewise at the East end of Loch Earn is much drier than Lochearnhead.

@bigsnow Our friends from Granton on Spey tell us that it never snows there

(in August).

27.4mm of rain overnight. It's a bit damp.

This August now 'nailded' on as one of the wettest I've recorded: rainfall 226% of the long-term average for the month (and there's more to come today).

Roll on the frosts and snaw!

Urgh. Disgusting weather. Blown-over plants, garden detritus everywhere, paths flooded with standing water..Rain like stepping into a bathroom shower.

Moan, moan, put me in a home.

Not been completely awful here. Bit of heavy rain early doors, gave way to sunshine and showers and now sunny. Very breezy though. Temp dropped a bit to at around 15/16c. Was 19c briefly earlier.

Very heavy rain here and cold at 9c. A real shock after the warmth of the last week.Glad we have secured harvest.

My location is missing heavy precipitation as the rain area seems to be rotating north and west of here. The temp is around 16C and there are even a few butterflies around buffeted by the stiff breeze. The overall ‘feel’ is autumnal though, accentuated by the noticeably shorter daylight hours.

The rain as finally cleared here and the strong winds have eased. Temps have gone up over a degree in the last hour or so but still cool at 12.6C.

Late last night there was a very large, bemused frog sitting in the middle of the shower tray. :shok: It appeared, and was, unharmed, but it could only have accessed the shower by the drain, as evidenced by muddy scuffles around the drain hole. It must have pushed up the free-standing cap on the drain.

Which concern is, where did it access the drainage system? Something else to worry about and investigate:oldrolleyes:.

Cheers Catch. That wee bright spot of a sunny settled month was all that was holding me together.

Morning all

Weather has been abysmal here for days - very wet and very windy!

Not much is going to change next week either...pretty depressing stuff but it is Autumn now so I can’t really complain anymore as this is normal fare for us!

Plus when you look at what the people in the Northwest Bahamas are currently experiencing...our weather/climate here isn’t so bad after all.

Keep an eye on these two accounts - both at ground zero.

Must be on the verge of becoming a Category 5 - absolute beast of a hurricane. (Lightning rate also looks insane)

Really scary stuff for the people who live there - hopefully everyone is hunkered down and stays safe.

It is going to be a total nightmare...especially with the projected duration/stalling over these Islands.

And as others have said above...Florida is back in the mix for landfall.

Not much to complain about today except maybe the breeze. A very pleasant afternoon with plenty of sun and about 18c.

Been a windy few days and some heavy showers rattling through at times here, some chilly air on Wednesday gens-16-0-78.thumb.png.9ef196a53f72fcaa9c019665ae91476c.png wouldn't be surprised to see some rural spots getting close to freezing on Wednesday night, some cooler charts also showing further out but I suspect the charts will have a fair bit of chopping and changing in the next week or so with Hurricane Dorian's exact movements still uncertain.

Some very windy and wet periods could be expected next week. Next weekend should give us a temporary relief from the wind if model outputs are confirmed. For now, wet and breezy Monday-Wednesday, drier but still windy Thursday-Friday (at least for eastern Scotland)

Very autumnal today with  blustery showers not  to cold at 15c maximum.A few geese flew over today probably ones that reside here all year but with the trees starting to take on their autumn colours its becoming seasonal very quickly. Fields too wet to take in any bales so greased tractor ,fed cattle and knapsnacked sprayed new seed size whin   and broom bushes( a yearly task.) in the evening to save fences and having to chop them when they grow.

Not a nice morning. yesterday was a bit of everything really here. looking at the bbc longer forecast it looks like any late warmth is on hold for us. can change maybe will change but if not can we just fast forward to winter.
