Eastern Scotland having a thunderstorm feast today! Great to read and see the pictures from everyone.

Some nice convection round about me but nothing on the scale like the rest of you are enjoying!

Wow what a storm, lost count how many that is now this year, gutters overflowing, thunder but the main things were the intensity of the rain and possible rotation as about a third of the way into the storm sudden gusts with rain swirling in all directions, have some videos so will try and get them uploaded at some point, yet again flooding will be an issue here.

One of my videos from that storm, possible rotation at around 7:30 / 8:00 mark with gusty winds and rain swirling in all directions

Had some heavy showers up here in Aberdeenshire today. This morning near Peterculter and around Fyvie at lunchtime.

Heard that I missed much heavier rain back in Dundee though with localised flooding and big traffic holdups.

It looks like its going to be a quieter day today, tomorrow and Saturday though look like its going to be a repeat of Thursday with widespread thundery showers...fingers crossed for a good light show later in the day.

Someone mentioned that they haven't seen so much thundery weather for a long time I totally agree we used to get the odd thunderstorm now and again but this past week or two has been very unusual its like its been every other day...I wonder how long it will last.

It doesn't look too bad on radar. However the Euro4 has central and northern parts staying quite cloudy today.

Just as much surface water as yesterday in Aberdeenshire after overnight rain and drizzle which is continuing. No real let up forecast for a while yet, for here anyway.

Still raining here but looking at the radar it does seem to be the last of it. until tomorrow and the weekend of course.

As long as its relatively well inland then it should give you a fighting chance.

Mixed bag today here , a bit of sun, a fair few short lived showers, decent temps. Tomorrow looks awful, but a chance of thunderstorms on Saturday (not that I've seen anything approaching one this week despite being in warning areas most of the week).

A fine Summer’s day here! (20c with plenty of sunshine and some Scottish standard daily convection knocking about in the distance)

Chance of thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon/night and Saturday afternoon/night for many of us.

On a side note we have had loads of jellyfish on the shore the last few days - seen roughly 50 within a 2 miles radius. Put me off going for a wee swim!

Just a couple of light showers today up in Aberdeenshire and on our way home following yesterday’s downpours and tomorrow’s washout. Feeling fresher after what seems like weeks of clammy conditions.

Here is one rogue shower seen from the Cairn o Mount (didn’t spot the cyclist snoozing there until too late).

Still a bit of brown water coming down through the Falls of Feugh as well.

Got up the nerve to look round  the spring barley fields after an afternoon at the Grantown Show. The torrential rain on Tuesday has brackled (broken over)a few areas but  the main effect has been to bleach the crop speeding up the ripening process so we are looking at 10 days now instead of three weeks away. So you don"t need sunshine to ripen a crop continuous heavy rain will do the job.Seems there might be a window to do some second cut silage next Monday /Tuesday heres hoping. Currently dry  broken cloud and 12c.

@Ravelin its just 2 miles south west of Insch so well enough inland.

I'll be popping over for snowballs and hooch this winter then, I'm working not far from there.

This is more of an outlook than a certain forecast as tomorrow will likely be an ever changing and complex setup with this deep low moving across the UK image.thumb.png.c85f384ab63cbf1a6388f618bcde79ee.png

Yellow zone = flood risk due to a band of heavy rain moving across the country tomorrow morning, and especially for us east coasters very unpleasant with a strong easterly wind accompanying the rain.

Orange zone = most likely areas to monitor for thunderstorm development tomorrow afternoon / evening as moderate amounts of CAPE build after the early band of rain clears, doubts for me will be how quickly the cloudy skies move away and let the sun / convection develop and also the winds will be due to switch from an easterly (thunderstorm killer)  to a southerly especially further south / west in the orange zone, also I would put the chances of funnels / tornadoes as a lower risk ATM but the threat could exist should the storms develop, main risks with the storms likely to be intense rainfall again leading to more flooding and lightning.

Best things will be to keep an eye on the radar and xc weather for that switch in wind direction.
