Meanwhile over in Crieff. 2 rumbles of thunder 2 short but heavy showers. looking at the radar it all seems to have gained in intensity once it passed over me.

Busy in here despite not being winter!

Just in from work having missed all the fun at home. Pity it wasn't 3 hours later when I was at home. Quite a storm by all accounts, direct hit, severe thunder and lightning, and exceptionally heavy rain.

Roads were a mess over the last few miles to the house with flooding, debris and parts where the water has ripped the surface up.

I was up in Shetland today for work and it was very humid.  Low cloud delayed my arrival but it was sunny when I was leaving.  Back home and dry!  I think we maxed out a little over 20C according to my weather station.

Saw a report from Pitlochry of 26mms of rain in 28 minutes [or vice versa]? Quite a few reports of storms from North West of Perth into Highland Perthshire this afternoon and evening. Here mostly dry and warming (max 22.2C) with just a few large spots of rain around lunchtime. Cloudy to our N and W though.

Fantastic day - what a way to end July! ⚡?

Only downside for me was that I couldn’t go out and take pictures/videos as I didn’t want to risk my 17 months old son caught out on a hillside! (Girlfriend was at work all day)

Slight risk tomorrow if anyone has the energy to go again!

It has been a great Summer so far - one month to go! (Meteorological Summer at least - excited to see what it has in store!)

Oh and @Kirkcaldy Weather you were absolutely spot on with the comment last night about the convergence zone setting up right over me! Well played!

Plenty of cumulus building, it also looked like a developing CB over the moors south of Glasgow so I'd expect that to show on radar soon. It could be a third day of floods for Ayrshire!

quite gloomy here this morning.   Low cloud and mist but not cold.   Amazing how we had no rain yesterday and at times  were quite sunny and warm, whereas further west had the deluge.

As I type however, rain has just started!

Steady as she goes - love convective skies!

Keeping an eye on the radar - heading out later if it gets lively.

The storm to the south of Glasgow looked impressive yesterday - I only saw one flash of lightning but the sky looked very dark and menacing accompanied with some rumbles of thunder. Later in the evening there was another storm just to the north which wasn't particularly intense but brought some rain and produced a couple of flashes of lightning. It seems topography is important in developing thunderstorms with the higher terrain to the south of Glasgow seemingly enhancing the storms aswell as the Campsie Fells. The hills around Loch Lomond and the Cowal Peninsula seems to be a hotspot for storms - presumably the Arrochar Alps and the Lochs create a suitable environment for convection.

This was taken yesterday at Saltcoats as the cells worked their way down the Ayrshire coast. Pretty impressive structure!

Cloudy today, with the occasional feel of rain hanging in the air even if I'm not sure it's actually raining. Certainly feels cooler but not cold,. Warm enough for me still to be in shorts when outside, but cool enough for me to also have a thin long-sleeved top on at the same time.

Just one of the jobs keeping me busy the last few days, clearing this big border and building the small wall...

You should have seen the state of it when we moved in last year. Most of the weeds were pulled last summer, but periodically it needs redone. Starting replanting from the left and right (out of photo), but it'll take a long time yet to finish.

Some day! 21c with plenty of sunshine...walked up my local hill. (Tower Hill 98 meters)

Got to the top just after 14:00 and did not leave until 16:30...had to take refuge under a big tree when the rain finally arrived overhead.

No thunder and lightning today but still glorious convection!

Another dull humid day here.Started digging up weeds in garden and compsting them. Its going to be a long job with all the tropical growth. Hoping to secure second cut silage next week. Looks as though it might even be too wet for that job. Currently 18c

That looks very close to being a tornado. I believe if a funnel cloud is halfway between the cloud base and the surface then it's most likely tornadic wind is being experienced on the ground.
