Interesting. I dd hear a big rumble of thunder in the south side of Glasgow at lunch time. What time in the evening are we talking?

Associated with that lowcoming out of Northern Ireland so maybe 2hrs. It's even more unlikely I'd say now given its all merged together but possible on the edge of the current mess I guess.

Thanks for the tips about Carcassonne. We're travelling down in the motorhome, booked in for a week at a campsite. After that, if its too hot we'll head somewhere cooler for the second week. The area to the north looks interesting @ciel

Saturday evening walking the puppy:

IMG_20190615_182900.thumb.jpg.22d754677b12f1edc2d88e7c956a7b33.jpg

Ended up quite a decent day.  Sunday AM much the same and then heavy rain Sunday from 1pm.  12 miles away in Peebles was however much more pleasant...

Not many of them but like yesterday the showers have a little oomph to them when they come along. Could our thunderless streak finally be broken today

Here is how things are looking at the moment

Wednesday

probably starting off dry before a front moves in from the west later in the day bringing the risk of showers and the wind picking up with the arrival of the showers 20190617.0540.PPVJ89.png  48-574UK.thumb.gif.e0c18cebe02a2fa95aaf7e53866d0cfd.gif  57-574UK.thumb.gif.ad4dcc99aaea9b71e7ea37b20884939a.gif

Thursday

Looks like plenty of showers moving in associated with troughs and some gusty winds with the showers 20190617.0540.PPVL89.png  78-574UK.thumb.gif.611f198bc45c9f08d93e5d5214b921e6.gif  showers may clear later in the day 84-574UK.thumb.gif.f6c3a9360a17dc5236f8edab0b3c349a.gif

Friday

Probably starting off with some showers before pressure begins to build through the day settling things down gfs-0-102.thumb.png.4e80ac35c1ec4c25c67514ccdd6293ca.png

Saturday

I am hoping Saturday will be decent as it is my birthday, and at the moment looks like pressure continues to build in and dry things down, still not that warm but should be sunnier / drier and hardly any wind gfs-0-126.thumb.png.f27f9c9eab708c3c5656ba74f0dcb150.png

Sunday

High pressure builds further gfs-0-150.thumb.png.fbdc3ebe128d1b5d51f86049545cb614.png  so continuing the drier weather (IF enough CAPE builds with the slightly warmer temps on Sat/Sun could be some scattered showers but a low risk)

Great drying day today managed to secure lots of wrapped silage bales in more or less ideal conditions of sun and wind.. Young Mr Northernlights still driving bales home tonight. I also managed to finish sowing neeps in the damp areas of the field which are now easily passable. No wonder the ground got wet here the Met Office rainfall anomoly map for May shows my area had twice the monthly average for May and this mainly fell in the last two weeks

Still having some great sunsets .This one shows the view to the NNW at about 10.00pm. 003.thumb.JPG.dbf346d86a587ff68c419b0c1a6a4dd4.JPG

The dog had an 'extra' walk yesterday evening while I calmed down after watching a certain TV programme!

Watching the sunset was quite therapeutic.

Today has started off sunny with some build up of cumulus now, slight breeze and feeling a little warmer than of late, not too bad.

If only our weather was as warm & dry as all the hot air coming out of them. I only saw a few snippets at work but that was enough.

Look at the 100k or so people who actually get to vote for the next PM.  Generally white, male, relatively well off, straight... hmm. Is this evidence of a functioning democracy?

Just seen a couple of painted ladies here, flitting along in the breeze.

Everything seems to be heading in the right direction

Although I have a few issues that I would like to see resolved over the next few days of model runs, see my post here on some of the best recent storms and something between +12 and +15 C 850 temps would be more than enough

My main concern is the positioning of the low and resultant wind direction with some pulling in a SE or even E flow which possibly with high uppers wouldn't be an issue but I wouldn't like to take the chance as I have seen on many occasions when those wind directions have drawn in something slightly cooler from the North Sea / Forth and killed off the storms, what I would like to see is something like this with the low moving to the west of Ireland and turning the winds more to the south anim_dlt4.thumb.gif.2c708e6d64e2a6e9beeb6e057b7429d2.gif anim_hxa9.thumb.gif.e0ec5a769fca354b5156a0c89e865134.gif  still plenty time for things to change either less or more favourable but hopefully we will have a better idea at the weekend.

I just can’t see the plume reaching this far North - it looks as though it might even just glance the Southeast of England in the end. (Although they will still see temps of 28/29 degrees by the looks of things currently)

Latest GFS 12z charts for Monday 24th through to Thursday 27th below...this is what I am dreading happening!

Looks better after this for a couple of days at the end of the month.

Metoffice outlook is a stinker. (Not that I put too much faith in these being accurate)

Hopefully the heat does push further North as I am getting sick of sunshine/showers and 15 degrees everyday!

Think I need to move to the Southeast Borders for a bit of warm and sunny weather - @CatchMyDrift is more often than not enjoying a pleasant Summers day!

(It’s a shame we lost the Scottish Politics thread as it feels like all of this discussion has gone - has it been resurrected? I take it i’m not missing anything here)

But anyway, long story short any party can choose how it elects its leader. The downfall of this is you get a hardline viewpoint (Corbyn, People fine with a No deal Brexit etc) and therefore alienate the ‘centre’.

My issue is more that Gordon Brown should have faced a General election in order to be PM and so to should Boris/Hunt/Gove et al.

Anyway, I digress. Lovely 2 days down here. Just the right side of 20c yesterday, so much so you could sunbathe, and 18.5c today.

Hopefully we tap into a bit more warmth. We’ve certainly had worse summer months here but it probably is in the bottom 1/3.

Long long overdue a good August by contrast
