Sok HC, I'm going up to Edinburgh to drink tea, eat cake and spend the husband's money.

Which, after all, is what husbands are for, really.

(Diabolical metaphor alert...)

After the first two went in I thought 'eff this' and went for a walk on the beach. Little wind (that's the token weather note) but a really low equinoctial tide so plenty of strange debris on the beach that isn't normally visible. Including a broken toilet. Yes, not only did McLeish send the boys down the toilet :wallbash:, they smashed it on the way through .

Roll on spring

The cloud broke later this afternoon - wind dropped but still coldish.

A couple of pics from the evening dog walk.

To the north, clear cold air.

Still breezy this morning, sunny  and chilly at 6c.

Very windy yesterday but mostly dry.

I know this is equinoxtial gale time but  I am getting weary of the wind which makes opening of gates and doors very hard work. We have had a lot of wind this last autumn and winter mostly from a southerly direction.

Ground surface very dry again with mini dust devils on the farm road..

I agree about the windiness. Most springs I'm out on the bike a lot more than this and the reason I've not been is the almost constant westerlies and southerlies for the last several weeks.

At least today was sunny but firewood jobs today meant safety specs to keep the dust out of the eyes - it's been very windy...

Absolutely miserable weather this morning - cold wet and windy again. Lights still on. Pfft.

Dear Jeremy, if you can't be arsed to help rescue us from swivel-eyed perverts, please do something about the weather.

Quite a varied last seven days of weather here - most enjoyable!

Spring heatwave or another snow event would be most welcome now.

Have a good week ahead everyone!

Nasty day here on the whole. Bright and sunny a lot of the time but with a strong, bitingly cold wind that made it feel much colder than the 8c or so. Then there were the showers, heavy, blustery and turning to sleet or even wet snow at times. Picking son up from Alford around 1pm I watched the car thermometer drop from 8C to 3C in the space of a couple of minutes as a squall hit.

Exactly the same here full on winter conditions. In spite of this ground was dry enough to absorb the showers allowing us to lift some of the last neeps this afternoon before a bracket on the machine broke.

On a totally different subject noticed some boken surface ice came in on the tide at Longyearbyan Svalbard to give the impression that the sea surface was frozen.Have"nt seen this a lot of times in the last number of years and temperatures there do look fairly cold.

Currently calmer and sunny here this morning and 6c

I see the automated forecast from the Met Office is as reliable as ever - forecast maximum of 10c today and already it's nearly 12c!

Going to be a lovely mild day by the looks of things - currently variable cloud, light wind and hazy sunshine.  Should stay dry as long as that rain over the Moray Firth keeps drifting due east as it has done so far this morning.

A fair amount of cloud cover here, with occasional bursts of sunshine. At least the chilly wind has dropped. Temp currently 9C and the breeze is a westerly one.

I’m trying to discourage (without much success) the 2ndpair of Jackdaws from nesting in the garage, but haven’t the heart to actually destroy the nest.

Top marks for effort:

Looks like the jackdaws would make the martin nest unusable and I know which of the 2 I'd favour...

A grey and slightly drizzly morning here. Been outside doing various things and haven't felt inclined to take any of my 4 layers off.

Same here HC, cold and not inviting ootside. Just gone very grey now so rain incoming I think.

Ciel I'm plagued by bloody jackdaws, far too many of them live in the chimneys in this short street. The wee birds can't get a look in when I try to feed them.

Maybe one of these would do the trick. Just caught him showing interest in the garage where the Jackdaws enter under the eaves.
