Grey, cold and windy here so several layers on soon for a brisk walk...  I'm risking thinking about a snowy walk inland and with a bit of elevation on Sunday :cold:

I got out for my brisk walk before tea but got drenched in that front going over. Pfft.

So... who's going to get sleet on Sunday?

quite a few of us could get some snow on Sunday with a small area of low pressure / fronts moving into the colder air 20190308.1702.PPVI89.png  20190308.1748.PPVJ89.png  anim_gtv9.thumb.gif.4a81f0b7465a3cdef1a5a7ac66d2959a.gifanim_tzf9.thumb.gif.853cfc707ed3c04dfdadeccd96e6dfba.gif anim_zbf5.thumb.gif.ed2b3fe4bfdc18d6366d3d0e53e5f8e9.gif anim_dsr2.thumb.gif.8bc8e44256b834d78aee1fb7e9cdca81.gif ?️

Anything's possible with that - slight changes in pressure will make a relatively big difference to the flow. Although 850s aren't favourable for us coasties (as usual)...

Interesting that even in the centre of the low 850 temps are still forecast to be around -5 so not really the usual "mild sector" problems *still subject to some change of position / intensity between now and Sunday*  45-7UK.thumb.gif.0963305d8bab9a1d3a60cea9d47a7dbe.gif  48-7UK.thumb.gif.a3cd620b81d6a3c697ec3b7462a382ca.gif 51-7UK.thumb.gif.8f1c5ff6007e2be1c0f7a7fb09789dfd.gif 54-7UK.thumb.gif.7919ab6c9fa33b3ef838e0b25034fc15.gif 48-21UK.thumb.gif.ed53f81e94fe0e0d9c3b31dc0cc07dcd.gif pretty much all of us could be in with a chance of at least a covering 57-780UK.thumb.gif.7ebfbb066603ba29f637f07f69c7b8e4.gif

Mistyqueen I am pleased you are a prepper - we don't want to take chances do we?? I'll come up for a jam piece if that's ok?

I'm past caring if I get any snaw now, my brain (what's left of it) has lurched on to Spring/Garden mode..

Hills round about white too over 800 feet.

We have the merest of dustings with blue skies, a fresh   breeze and a temperature of 1.5c just now

Horizontal snow here at the moment. Not lying, but that might be because it's not getting the chance to hit the ground the wind is that strong.

Similar here - blustery wintry showers, a mix of snow and sleet. And no settling just here. YET.

A wee covering of snow here this morning after a week of mostly cold, frosty starts, dropping to -6c at times, it’s felt much more seasonal. After the weird/unsettling t-shirt warmth that ended February even the relentless lashing sleet/rain/wintry mix felt a relief. Interesting few days ahead, March is always lively

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
