12.3 C sun trying to break through the clouds, lowest it got overnight was 9.2 C

still hoping that the high can shift west at least into the Atlantic and give us a shot at getting something colder > anim_pjl8.thumb.gif.32bbedab6e530c76c638e9b51eab43c6.gif anim_hpl8.thumb.gif.d1d8650d42a7a468bce4304d68dfa639.gif  gensnh-14-1-384.thumb.png.f1eba3ae73229ad9dbb0fbe97236ac29.png

would be ideal if the high could get into scandi but still think this is a low chance ATM gensnh-11-1-384.thumb.png.881712ee7e9fe39c041b0f468c7d8bee.png gensnh-15-1-384.thumb.png.897f3d3fe00c4f0efd878d16cea591ad.png

What a turnround wintering sheep now grazing spring grass. Cattle inside going from once a day bedding to every second day as air is so dry the folds are drying up.Cows had a bite of spring grass yesterday as they cleaned up the edges of the neep field, daffodils up 3 inches in the last few days.Maybe we will have some straw and hay left over this winter.

Really feels like mid April the inner pessimist in me screams DROUGHT if this keeps up but the optomist says we"ll get two weeks of snowfall in April like 1968 to keep the drought at bay. Really feel for the ski resorts. Currently 12c  and overcast.

11.8 C sun just making an appearance. IMG_0526.thumb.JPG.9e79dfc9780ea4ecbf72cfe33d10f2af.JPG

drew this up last night on paint, this is the type of pattern I am hoping / looking to see develop weather.thumb.png.1eff248fdc17a6f3e824a35fdaca96d9.png plenty of ensembles now showing some form of trough / low developing over Scandinavia (possible section of PV) just struggling to get a grip on the higher pressure to the west but I am hopeful they will firm up on this.

Back home today. I've visited Skye many times and usually had mixed weather but never 6 days of all but unrelenting strong wind, heavy cloud and rain/drizzle. Really pants.

As I was driving back east late morning, the sky brightened and then something strange appeared. What can it be, I wondered... so large and bright and warming???

The strong winds are becoming tiresome, it's been windy for over a week now. Would be nice to go out without being blown away.

Tomorrow is looking even windier, possibly gales for a time. From Thursday temperatures should gradually rise and winds drop. But it depends on how far west the HP can push, we could just end up with strong southern currents bringing gales and showers.

Feart to say this aloud, but its sunny, it;s calm, there is no wind, and it's currently 6C. We have scaffolders coming to fix the chimney and it looks like they might not be getting blown off this time

Another windy morning .The weather has been in this rut nearly all last autumn and winter.Seems to be the default pattern now with  damaging southerly winds every month since September.Cooler today at 5c

Not quite a double figure day for me again with a max of 8.6C. Felt colder than in recent days though with the strong breeze from the SSW. Another dry day!

Back in mid January we booked up for a few days in Aviemore. (We will arrive Febuary 23rd and leave Febuary 27th)

The idea was to take my son (who will be 1 year old) sledging up Cairngorm mountain and up the hill to feed the reindeers with a snow covered landscape...

I think we will be packing his Summer outfits, bucket and spade and building sandcastles at Loch Morlich!

It really has been a rubbish Winter IMBY and it is going out with a whimper with regards to seasonal weather.

I shall see you all at some point in March when we are all snowed in!

They came across Edinburgh. I got woken up by the lashing rain at about 3:30AM this morning, then further very heavy showers at around 16:00. More rain this evening with prolonged showers moving in from the west.

Weather's been really crappy recently, and Wednesday looks very wet indeed. Was raining yesterday too, and the winds are relentless

I don't think record temperatures will be reached. GFS and ECMWF have agreed on uppers peaking at "only" around +9/+10. Inversions will be present, there will be clouds around and a moderate breeze should keep temperatures around 13-14C.

My sympathies to Hairy Celt who had a completely crap week on Skye. I do hope you managed to find a half decent bar to sup a couple of drams! Calm and cooler here today, no rain ( yet! ). Ah well, at least the rain has been good for the whisky and gin industries up here!

Most of the showers died out before getting here this morning, it drizzled for about 10 minutes. And finally the wind has calmed down!

More rain moving in from the west now, but looking very intermittent for now.

Thursday and Friday should stay dry before further rain moves in over the weekend

Less windy today and curently 7c

Saw the first lapwing over the fields today but no sign of any oyster catchers.  A bit of a surprise was seeing quite a number of ladybirds,  a left over from last summer possibly  when the grain was full of them.

Seem some folk want  to reintroduce lynx .Would they be an apex predator and help to control  the badger numbers as well as the deer?
