Snaw ❤️ (not really bothered with the amount just happy that a snawless winter is off the cards, and also amazed that it originated from the north so anything from that direction here is a bonus)

After an afternoon with a slight thaw at 2c and and bit of sleet with a fresh north wind we now have heavy powdery snow falling at 0c and everthing is getting white again. Sitting here tonight the thing that alerted me was the muffled sound of a north wind a sure sign of heavy falling snow.

Nowt along here in Haddington, although the low cloud is causing havoc with the light pollution. Thought we had a nice aurora display going but turned out to be the security lights at the giant produce shed on the road to aberlady :oldlaugh:

It was a good way to end this cold spell, definitely more than I was expecting. A couple of centimetres on the ground at least in the city centre. I doubt it will last long, as temperatures rise on Sunday and rain moves in.

Unfortunately next week is looking very wet and mild

February the month that finally delivers? - certainly still looking promising IMO @ghoneym if we can get blocking developing could be a quick journey into a cold pattern

Thanks for those, you just cheered up my evening I think it's a case now of accepting that next week is going to be mild and hopefully by next weekend we should be seeing more promising signals in the short-mid term.

Very snowy outside, it has been quite an unusual setup. Its not everyday that you see snow showers flowing down from Dundee and into Edinburgh. The snow is very dry, which again is very rare for Edinburgh as usually snow events are borderline.

Went out for a few drinks with an old uni friend for drinks in Clarkston. He lives in East Kilbride and declared on arriving home that there was much more snow in East Kilbride so I said send me a photo. This is the perfect example of someone who doesn't appreciate weather.
