Looks like my commute home will be slow. Currently very slow moving in Keith due probably to roadworks, but also sat in heavy snow and hail.

Road isn't great.

The latest BBC forecast said snow is possible at low levels for a time on Sunday. Hopefully enough to take the kids out for a while before it gets milder.

We have a shitty mix of snow, sleet and rain now. Groovy baby.

was just looking at the radar and spotted that up your way then pressed the precip type button and the dreaded sleet / snow mix appeared - at least you are getting something falling from the sky Kirkcaldy is like a desert at this point with the lack of precip with just 13.7mm in January

just had a report heavy snow at pitcairngreen 3 miles from me

it does look remarkably like a small band of showers is for once making it over the hills which you hardly ever see

The big blob of snow I referred to earlier has, in albeit much reduced form, reached the campsies. There's hope for us yet!

I absolutely have not watched it the whole way.

Aaaand it's fizzled oot. Another effort by the snawgods where you could count the individual snawflakes.

Now leaden skies and cauld. But not that cauld.

It shows current and last 30 minutes. Think that band will fizzle out soon although accuweather predicts snow starting about 6pm.

Spose it may improve after dark? Snowing properly west of here, by all accounts.

Wanna buy a snowblower?

indeed, that band of snaw has seen Fife and thought naw al no bother but those snow showers out to the east are increasing and intensifying - must be an upper easterly flow but can it override the NE flow at the surface and push them into Fife / Edinburgh I bloody hope so

Just in case MoreSnow is still lurking...

SNAW. SNAW. SNAW SNAW SNAW

Well that was an interesting and unexpectedly snowy drive home. After 10mi a sat static behind a barely able to move lorry, 2 car and a van just East of Keith on A96 I lost my patience and scooted past when it was clear. After that a slow journey home, but I made it. Even risked the hill, which was very snowy but passable with 4WD and all seasons.

Measured 8-10Cm lying at the house, up from 2cm max this morning, and it's still falling.

Edit: don't know why the pictures are on their sides, turn you phone, tablet or monitor on its side for best viewing.

@Ravelin lovely pics (and everyone else's snaw pics) tenor.gif?itemid=8142242 :oldlaugh:

@101_North I feel your pain but keep an eye on those showers off the east coast I get the feeling they will miss Fife and hit toward Edinburgh knowing my luck this winter

@Norrance snaw closing in on Dundee on radar hope you see some

@CatchMyDrift well we have got 1 teeny tiny step closer to something here - day was clear skies - now we have some clouds - can we get to the snow producing clouds stage - then snow falling stage I am not holding my breath
