More cloud this morning so not as cold as yesterday. Looks like snow isint  far away.

Sun's trying to appear above the hills so the temperature might lower yet.

Met office still showing -4c for my location at 8am.

Temperature noted around 8am.

Bit of a difference.

Several hours of heavy snow in Rheambreck this morning but annoyingly I am in much less snowy Stockport.  Back home girlfriend has been ordered out with camera and tape measure...

Looks as if I'm on the warmer side of the temps posted here this morning. 'Only' -5C at the house at 7:30am and temps generally -1/2C on the drive to Fochabers. There was some light snow on and off from Huntly onwards, although it was hard to tell at times as from the car it looked more like driving through mist or cloud, couldn't really see the flakes they were that small. Still snowing lightly in Fochabers just now.

Showers seem to be pepping up a bit on the radar, around the NE coast and SE Scotland/NE England. Hope for me that they'll drive a bit further inland and give me a further light top up at home. More organised band to the NW should be making the hills pretty white.

Yes, this is my theme of the winter. Snow starts, gets a bit heavier... then just bloody stops. People say, oh, it's really heavy in Alness, blizzards at Tore, the A9 is carnage, and I'm here with a joiner. FFFFFFS.

Currently -2.5c, a lot "warmer" than this time yesterday.

Sunny and calm with some tempting pink topped shower clouds visible over to the W/NW.

An overnight low of -10.2c just after midnight then a remarkable and rapid warm up to -4.5c by 2am, sticking around that temperature until dawn - really bizarre.

Milder here too at -0.5c with outbreaks of snow varying from light to heavy as just now    .Fresh covering of about 2cm with a  fresh WSW breeze and the snow beginning to drift slightly

Up on the hills this morning. The difference in summit temperature compared to the valley is huge. I've had to ditch gloves and the mid layer.

Some impressive cloud formations to the north and west which seem to be tracking southerly. Definitely snow clouds. Might be an idea to get off this hill.

Always warms up before snow as the old uns used to tell me, latent heat from my current  snowfall.

Snow turned moderate to heavy in Fochabers now.

@ScepticalYou've a bit of time to get down off the hill, but yes itt'll be snow clouds, cos I'm under one and they are heading south.

-7c in Glasgow. Beautiful sunny crisp day out there.

Just a shame we're not getting in on any of the snow.

Not quite as cauld last night - a mere -8.5C overnight. Another stoater of a winter's day: everything frozen solid, place is white with rime and snaw remnants and the sun is splitting the skies again. Currently up to -7C. Potential for the 5th ice day of the winter today. Also looking good to spy the merry dancers this weekend.

No, I didn't! - I've still got it.   It's covered in spider's webs, but I've still got it!

Ravelin is right though, I did buy it in 2010 and it's been doing the rounds on here for 9 bloody years!:oldlaugh:   If we ever get snowed in, I PROMISE I will post a picture of me using it

with middle finger clearly visible!:oldlaugh:

Fk me I think the chances of that being put to serious use before Armageddon are slim!

Nice blue sky here now.  The radar teases with more pink bits heading this way.

You should have stuck it in the car and headed to cornwall.. at least you could have helped some stranded folk and seen snow at the same time..

Hey, Blitzen and I with our snow blowers could form the 'Netweather Kilted Thread Snow Disaster Rescue Team', dispatched across the UK (particularly England) wherever more than a cm of snow falls. Problem is, we'd have to be on standby every time an Express headline for "Britain Braced for Snow Chaos" hits, which is that often that we'd be on permanent standby for 6mths of the year.
