Harriet Dart and Dan Evans led the British charge into the Wimbledon second round on a bumper day of matches for home players.

Dart, whose first set was watched by the Duchess of Cambridge on court 14, beat American Christina McHale 4-6 6-4 6-4 in a tight tussle.

British number three Evans had a much more straightforward time in a 6-3 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 win over Federico Delbonis.

Six other Britons are in action on Tuesday, including Johanna Konta.

There are 10 Britons in the singles draws here, four of whom are into the second round after victories for Kyle Edmund and Heather Watson on Monday.

Konta plays Romania's Ana Bogdan, while Katie Swan, Jay Clarke, Paul Jubb and Cameron Norrie are also in first-round action later on Tuesday.

Andy might get his doubles campaign underway on Wednesday he'll be on one of the 2 main courts for safety

His match will need to be fitted in as a bonus 4th match so it might not happen depending on how other matches go and he court he's on will be sorted nearer the time

Puts the 70m feed into good use in the end 2 courts now that can go to 23:00 if needed

Can only be a good thing to avoid a backlog building up

Bernard Tomic has been fined his full Wimbledon prize money of £45,000 for a lack of effort in his first round defeat - which lasted just 58 minutes.

Wimbledon authorities docked him the pay after ruling he did not meet the 'required professional standard' in his match against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

It is the second time in three years that the controversial Australian has been fined at the All England Club after being fined £15,000 following a defeat in 2017 in which he admitted he was 'bored' at Wimbledon.

The 26-year-old was beaten in the shortest men's match at SW19 in 15 years, just four minutes shy of Roger Federer's 54-minute demolition of Alejandro Falla in 2004.

It is the latest in a long line of incidents where the player has been accused of 'tanking' - deliberately not trying in a match - which earned him the nickname Tomic the Tank Engine.
