Looking highly likely now Wimbledon will go the entire tournament without a drop of rain even under last year's heatwave they didn't manage to avoid a few rain interruptions

Bit ironic like after the opening of court 1 roof but at least it came in useful for a few late finishes earlier in the championships

Wow, Simona Halep has certainly brought her 'A' game to this final.
    Such running, reaching and accuracy.
Can she serve it out for her first Wimbledon title...

    Yes !!!!    Well done Simona

    6-2  6-2

Still got a problem with bottling it. As for no domination I think Williams will disagree with you on that.

As for questions they weren't snide at all just brutally honest. The truth hurts however what you don't do is make an enemy of the press as they will get you in the end. Myself I wouldn't have asked the question. However at the next tournament I would have asked are mentally strong enough to win it.

After Murray collapsed and was blown away embarrassingly in the Aussie finals the press were talking whether he could ever recover from the mauling he got. He did but then made a mistake of losing Ivan. He then declined and then got injured. Looking at Feds Murray may still win a future major if his hips holds up but perhaps it will be in doubles.

Even John McEnroe said the comments were condescending, (shown on BBC website) and he is not someone to mince his words.
As for Konta, I am not a particular fan, and haven't seen any of her matches, (most have been work I have been in work, which doesn't help of course). But I do have a problem with the gutter press.

As for domination, in Men's Tennis 6 players have won slams this decade (Thanks Wiki)

    14 Djokovic
    12 Nadal
    5 Federer
    3 Murray, Wawrinka
    1 Čilić

While in the Women's game, it is 18.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Grand_Slam_women's_singles_champions

    12 Serena Williams
    3 Angelique Kerber
    2 *8 players
    1 *8 players

A women's event is always much more open than a men's event.

Hsieh and Strycova win the doubles 6-2 6-4 and bring a close to the 2019 championships

A great tournament this year the court one roof proving its worth with 3 or 4 (I think) closures for late night matches and quite remarkably not a single rain interruption

The next big tournament kicks off at the end of August with the US Open

'Andy Murray and Jamie Murray returned to court together for the first time since 2016 with a gutsy three-set win over experienced French pair Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.

The Scottish brothers missed three match points before sealing a 6-4 6-7 (7-9) 10-5 win at the Washington Open.

They trailed 5-2 in the decider - a first-to-10 champions tie-break - but won eight straight points for victory.

The pair will next play third seeds New Zealand's Michael Venus and South Africa's Raven Klaasen on Friday for a spot in the semi-finals.'   (From BBC sports page)

A very good watch, such fast, skilled play all round, close fought til the end, really enjoyed that  ?
