Both January and February colder, drier than average with February the colder and snowier of the two. I am going for a really cold February, maybe the coldest since 1986.

March: the cold relaxes but still some wintriness, average rainfall

April: first spell of "summer warmth" for the year but also a switch around with winter making another appearance with the most notable April snow since 2008 or 2012, rather wet.

It’s been chilly. The early part of May was fairly cold. Daytime temps struggling to reach 16c in early May is cold for the London and southern regions.

The average high in London in mid-May is 18c, up to 19-20c late in the month. Only a handful of days have even reached 18c at Heathrow.

My latest prediction for the summer in London is as follows:

June: 20c/10c, 25mm, 180 hrs

July: 24c/14c, 40mm, 215 hrs

August: 21c/12c, 80mm, 160 hrs

A cool, dry and cloudy June, an average July, and another chilly/wet/cloudy horror August as is fashionable these days.

Looking at he stats 16c in early May is where it should be in London and the SE..so cold is an exaggeration

Sounds like a poor or very poor summer then. It won’t surprise me if we have another poor August, although 2018 wasn’t too bad, it came as a slight relief after all the endless hot and dry days of June and July. And this comes from a heat lover lol.

August 2017 was awful.

May 2019 really has struggled to even make average temps, and the nights have been cold even down south. Only now are we seeing daytime maxes of 20-21c.

August is dominated by the Atlantic, but should be best month in south, definitely start of autumn for parts of Scotland

My summer predictions for South Yorkshire, England:

June: 9-17°C, 170 sun hours, 70mm rain

July: 11-19°C, 160 sun hours, 100mm rain

August: 12-20°C, 155 sun hours, 120mm rain

I'm thinking a cool start to summer, a cool July, and August being the mildest of the three (but still ordinary) but also the wettest.

I’m predicting an average to poor summer, then a mini heatwave in September for a couple of weeks, similar to 1985, or 1995, with warm days in early October. This will be a precursor to a cold winter.

Recent Octobers haven't been that wet. This is the first wetter than average October for England and Wales since 2014
