Winter weather chat, moans, banter and ramps

Perhaps if we all smash up a sledge, throw our winter coats in the bin, and generally just get rid of anything cold weather-related the weather might just change...

Does reverse psychology work on the weather?  🤔

Well theres no disputing Dec has been an absolute abomination for coldies!!

Next 6 weeks will be the defining factor for winter.. if Jan goes a similar way to Dec it will be on a par with 88/89..

Not saying it will of course, but still very little to be optmistic about still..

Followed by a 1988 type summer. Now, that would be depressing lol.

But you're north of me.  Also, I'm only around 130 metres asl so not much higher either.

I'd guess we're similarly situated for snow - i.e. not that well.

It looks and sounds like it too - there are flies and gnats flying around in the garden, and birdsong is quite loud too.  It may as well be spring the way things are going.

Which means it will be cold and wet in mid June next year lol.

I wouldn't mind that - I hate hot weather.  😄

I hate that mild winters can also lead to poor summers. The worst combination.

I had to post these charts from ICON, so, so annoying. Oh, and I have seen it all before of course, but it continues to amaze me how the cold air can hug our east coast all the way south from Scotland, barely moving inland, and then it's off into the continent and holidaying in Greece!!!!! 😢

You simply couldn't make it up!!!😣

Oh that’s right! Leave me in the cold dung, while you go and sip on pints of French beer.

September is a word I don’t like being mentioned just before the new year. September is the slow decline into the next winter. Please avoid this awful word, and there will be no mention of September on my watch, until at least May.

Worst December for snowfall throughout the whole of North Yorkshire that I can remember, including the mountains.

Even December 2015 saw low lying snowfall around mid month for some parts despite it being horrendously mild month overall.

One temporary snowfall above 400m is all gods county has seen this month.

2019 has a lot of making up to do but looking at the current charts Im not holding my breath.

Aye, overall think this has been less wintry than 2015, looks same to start January, although here early January snow is very rare

Next month will mark 6 years since we had any measurable snow in the winter months (Dec, Jan, Feb). March 2018 managed a couple of 1cm covers in the easterly spells, but apart from that, nothing.

Its a rather unusual and depressing run. Snow has become less frequent on average, but I never thought I would see nothing for such an extended period.

Just thinking outside the box, its not looking great is it.

Its rained and rained, and now its just damp and horribly mild..

One of the most unseasonal Decembers i can remember, and there has been lots of competition in the last 20 years ..

It's been awful for seasonal type weather - the long flagged up SSW seems to have distracted me a little from how boring weather wise December has been. If we don't get any decent cold from the SSW this really will have been the worst model watching season I can remember.

Extended period of morribundedness  coming up ,at least it makes getting around easier 🤔

Can't beat a beat of morribund - though have to completely disagree with 'TV Quick' - not as bad as December 2015 which was horribly mild but this is almost it's smaller brother!
