Ireland Regional Weather Discussion 13/12/2018 Onwards

I stayed awake til 12.45am but gave up as there was no sign of wintriness at all. Woke to find a significant fall in the early hours. Really surprised!

If I had been awake about 5am I would have seen something spectacular.

It was still good enough to excite the kids and I this morning.

Had a couple of inches here but was already going slushy when I woke at 8am. Still nice to see it though!

Temps up to 6c and a very messy thaw on.

Had about an inch of snow in north Leitrim last night, all falling in the space of an hour. All melted now but I got in my 2am walk!

Does anyone else just become a big kid when it snows? I’m 35 but had my nose glued to the window!

Maybe being greedy now, but any idea on further snow accumulations this week? or will it be just showers or only at altitude?

Looking at met office forecast, not much more than a few showers over the next couple of days.

Thought it would be all melted by now but full coverage in shaded areas. Patchy/melted elsewhere.

Showers. Wouldn't rule out accumulations lower down at night.

Last nights radar showing sleet for me when it was snowing ended up with 6inch or so?

Tomorrow evening/night looking good for snow showers and accumulations. Isolated thunderstorm possible as well. Was snowing a while ago when I was at 170m driving home. Sleet at home. 2.1c. Snow remaining in shaded areas. Some areas higher up could wake up to a fresh covering tonight.

Don’t see much happening for most this next couple of days unless you’re on high ground in west.

A large mass of something approaching Donegal/Derry.

If it's snow then could be a decent covering.
