Ireland Regional Weather Discussion 13/12/2018 Onwards

Recommended Posts

Looking at the weather forecast there is still plenty of time. Showers are to continue on and off through the night and die out tomorrow afternoon.

I thought the talk was more towards tonight for snow.

Keeping the hopes up!

Things seemed to be turning more northwesterly,  than Westerly , here's hoping

My first experience of thundersnow this afternoon. A huge flash and boom as this hail / snow shower closed in. Really impressive convection, taken about 15 miles inland from the Sligo coast.

Snowed quite heavily in Dublin on and off all day, nothing sticking. Mountains look glorious!

Winds easing this evening and showers becoming more confined to the North and West. Would not surprise me it I see a covering tonight after the slop of the last couple of days.

Also both mets mentioning frontal sleet/snow tomorrow night. Its easier for snow to fall in those situations compared to showers. Snow most likely across the North of the island.

Thunder and lightening again but no precipitation yet

I'm not happy, in fact I'm quite sad is it too much to ask for a bit of thunder and lightning to come my way!!

If temps would drop and some of this precipitation out west would merge, which some of it is, things could be a bit more positive for some later.

Euro4 also showing frontal snow for tomorrow night

Ice forming already and a flurry sticking instantly.  No problem with the WBFL tonight, just need the moisture.

Same here, think precipitation will be the problem tonight

Yes. Especially in the East.

Looking at the radar, the precipitation is dying off before it reaches here. Shame really as what fell earlier has stayed on grass and there is ice forming on the cars already.

Came home from work thinking snow was gone but have 2 or 3 inches in garden! Another shower earlier covered over melted areas. A Mile down the road there has zero snow. Very marginal.

Been following the big blog to west coast in, looks like it could run through central counties of Ireland

Breaking up fairly quickly as it makes landfall.... Sadly!

Turned into a decent event this. At least 3 inches on grass now. Snow/hail showers on off all evening. This was road this morning. Will take more tomorrow.

Snowing here, it's a little better then before and trying to cover everything but I can still see the road and grass.
