Hopefully we will have clear skies later for this

Jupiter and Saturn - the Solar System's largest planets - are set to cross paths in the night sky.

I managed to capture them the other night from my phone so apologies on the quality!

Was at 5.45 on the 18th Mountain, think you need to look south west as soon as the sun drops, hopeful of getting the opportunity this evening

Cheers. Tried looking last night about 5.30 but couldn't see anything. There was a wee bit of low cloud on the horizon.

Not without interest

Those ECM charts are notoriously poor though.

I remain unconvinced that the air will support lying snow away from higher hills and mountains, but we'll see I suppose.

It's hard to know what to think I have to say. Good synoptics, but it's all so very marginal most days. I think anyone may get some snow, but for so many it was just be cold and damp which isn't pleasant. And it keeps reloading right through to the end of runs, which prolongs things. Anyway as next week progresses the ECM has this for 31st, not insignificant lying snow, Northern Ireland gets the most

That snow row looks impressive until you check the percentages, highest is 64% mostly less than 20. Hopefully though things will improve

Okay parameters not perfect marginal at best at the start of this upcoming cold spell but Sunday gives a chance of widespread snow with that low diving south.

Merry Christmas all stay safe

I really hope you are right. Would be the perfect start to 6 weeks if lockdown.

Hard to tell where we stand in Ireland following the mod thread as only one wee corner of the British Isles matters!!

Anyone want to make a call about our potential over the weekend into next week?

Here's a snapshot of the gfs 12z, is this a pretty interesting wave forming over NI on Monday evening on that low pressure dropping from the North????
