Feels very freakish. Daffodils are out in full bloom, some spring flowers out and bees to accompany them... They'll be in for a shock when things return to 'normal' service.

Would take tonight's GFS 18z parallel. Has decent sneachta just a week away, one to watch.

looks like high ground in leinster will likely see heavy wet snow as the afternoon draws to a close and maybe low levels too as storm freya moves into the irish sea as rainfall rates will be quite high 5/6mm/h in the greater Dublin area between 5-8pm .Hopefully temperatures drop rapidly during this phase as the northerly takes hold.

Absolutely milling down now with big fluffy flakes. What a nice surprise.

Chucking down huge flakes here and trying desperately to stick.

2 inches lying on the ground. Hasn't stopped for over 3 hours and heavy too.

Very nice.

A balmy 10c on the other side of the Irish sea

Enjoy.

Currently sat on a plane at Dublin airport which is having to get de-iced because of the snow which has come down in the last hour - now I can see out of the windows again looks like it’s settled pretty readily

Not sure why people are saying its a surprise. Matt Hugo in a tweet mentioned this possibility yesterday and the Met Office graphics in their forecasts posted on Youtube suggested snow possibilities for parts of Ireland.
