If ever I wanted a gfs run to come true, it’s this one. Even though the pattern gets over run, we remain on the cold side of the jet through to February 5/6. At that stage I’d expect to start seeing heights rising to our north east in the models...

Crossing everything in hope!!!

Wish I’d not looked in here... I told myself I wouldn’t!

so much potential but so much to go wrong.! And we have no control over it!

everything crossed. Would love a proper snow day.

(so saying took me an hour to get from Limavady to Derry on Tue. The snow cane suddenly and caught everyone out!)

Am actually a bit excited after just reading through 7 pages on the Banter page but definitely caution is needed. We can celebrate with the PUB run tonight if it all still looks the same. Also the 27th has been mentioned for some time as the start of a cold spell?? Maybe I am wrong?

Yes, the cold spell should start off during Sunday.

The heavy snow mid week is as a result of a slider running into the cold air, the actual placement of this will probably not be decided until Monday, so still plenty to go wrong.

Lovely T+144 UKMO. I have marked the sliding low which is running into embedded cold. Where ever that runs will see a good dumping

The GFS 12z bring the slider in on a much more Southerly track with Southern Ireland seeing the snow and the North missing out....

There will be changes from run to run this far out. As long as the pattern is stays cold that's the main thing for now. Would be worse if it went north to Scotland then we'd be on the mild side so that's encouraging at least.

Absolutely fantastic GFS 12z run. Everybody gets some snow, North south east west. And it keeps going too..

If this is where we are this time next week, we will all be happy.....

2 conflicting posts above. Now I am confused. Lol.

They're not conflicting.

I was talking about the slider situation only, Parrot was talking about the overall position, which is very good.

ECM  not good? Very quiet in here tonight.

Yes.  Not the best.  Very little snow unless you live up a hill.

Hopefully it will tone down the low tomorrow.

Wouldn't take much of a shift to make it very good though. Time for change. I'm hoping that the GFS is the leading light in terms of medium range forecasting!!

It's that slider that's sickening me!! Lol. It's position will change again but last year we missed out so many times due to sliders drifting further south than originally forecast. Yesterday it was right over us!!

Boofer and MS were replying with intellect and good ideas, I just thought I'd bash him on the head with a mallet! Goes with the my life mantra I guess!
