Absolutely love that smell, it should be strong this evening after 6 warm dry days.

The rain is moving East to West but the medium level cloud overhead is moving South to North.

I could smell petrichor this evening even though it hasn’t rained yet.

that rain is getting heavier.

Interesting, mike, although it was showing on the radar, none made the ground here, less than three miles from you.

Nothing much going on apart from 2 helicopters which keep flying over every 5 minutes! Currently 13.1°C

A light dusting of dust/sand here, like after a snow flurry onto frozen ground.

It was the Apaches from Middle Wallop Army Air Corps. They were buzzing over here between 9:30 and 10pm last night. Pretty low too.

We get them all the time down here. They seem to use Clearbury as a waypoint, or similiar.

I don't mind them and the Chinooks. It's the horrible whiny Eurocopter that uses the fields on the other side of the A338 that gets to me, although they don't do it so much these days. 🤞

The rain has arrived. Quite heavy it is too. It’s also very dark and the lights are on.

9.5mm rain to half an hour ago, thought it might be more the way it was tanking down and the state of the roads!

First meaningful rain for a while this morning. Dry now with a few sunny spells and much cooler than the last few days. 11.4°C

It was pretty dark here earlier from the rain clouds and there was a nice petrichor smell along with it.

A decent 9.2mm of rain has certainly helped to get the newly planted fruit and veggies off to a good start, temperature wise a tad cool with the maximum 13.1°C at: 14:13

Have to admit not feeling positive about the next cross channel intrusion as it looks to be hitting IOW and eastwards in its northerly trek.

Noticeable change in airmass now. Feeling a lot cooler (which it is) after a high of 16C in the early hours.

MO is peeling away at the rain in the early hours. Had 5 ‘heavy rain’ symbols earlier, now just 2. Surprise surprise
