It's been obvious for a few days that it was never going to happen for us. These setups never really interest me - nothing classic unfortunately.

I'll be at work in trowbridge... If it is snowing good and proper Ill not bother with drive to mendips ill stay at girlfrends but I have had a little chat and if it is a damp squib lower down i have been given permission to return to mullender hill.  

I see hirlam brings it in at 3pm too

Just had a snow shower in Plymouth! Slight covering, likely to melt however. It’s the first snow of the winter

You don't want to look at ARPEGE even more underwhelming... From what I've seen tho ARPEGE tend to underestimate the amount of snow.

Looks more like todays to be fair with distribution.

Met Office updated to now show more heavy snow in the town centre as well as where I am a bit higher up.

First chance at a weekend away in ages and I don’t want them to close the schools (selfish I know) we were planning to make a day of it Friday and I’ll have no one to look after the kids

We could do with GFSP position of the low. Would be great news.

Based on this forecast 2-8cm Bristol Northwards and as you say 1-3cm Somerset.  Still all to play for my max prediction is 20cm somewhere in South East Wales.
