Coming up to PSJ from Odd Down Park and ride was nearly not a ride at all. Rain lashing down Wipers on fast. The heater and blowers inside on full blast because of condensation. Sides of roads like streams. Lucky to reach 30 miles an hour in the Blustery gusts,  Brighter now but still some light rain.

The squall line is just coming through now. Looks tastier for Fordingbridge, 7 miles to the South.

See you on the other side.

The wind wasn't notable, but the rain was! Roads like river etc.

4.2mm fell in 9 minutes. Daily total at 11.6mm.

For about 4 days now, the forecast wind speeds for early this morning were much higher tonight/tomorrow, and it's still that way now. Why wasn't there a warning for today? The warning from 9pm tonight looks pointless now.

Very windy morning but the winds suddenly dropped to almost nothing. Heavy rain at the moment.

Hoping the One O'clock News stays with their outside broadcast at Westminster. The squall line shoud be passing through there in a bit.

Edit : Here it comes.

Edit Edit : They switched back to the studio just after it hit. :oldlaugh:

Look at that temperature drop as the front begins to clear, a 5°C drop in an hour, impressive!

Indeed, the warnings are all over the place recently. Gusts have been in the 50-55mph range this morning, co-inciding with the morning rush hour too. If a warning exists for the winds overnight tonight, then there should have been a warning for this morning too. The timings were off on Sunday too. The warning was from 1am-11am I think but the winds only really got going at 9am and where gusting in excess of 50mph well after the warning expired.

Serious case of mistiming!  I had expected the worst to be gone by midday and it's only just about going now with some squally looking showers to follow.  Temperature was 5.7°C about half an hour ago and there was definitely sleet in the last heavy lot of rain.

Was 9.5°C at 9am and now it’s 3.9°C.

Still raining although not as heavy as it was.

Sun's just put in an appearance, it's still blowing but not so strongly.  Will venture out and check the gauge in a little while.

A tad over 10mm rain, temperature has been up to 10.1, currently 7.1 having been down to 5.3.

I didn’t hear the squall going through, + I was up in Salisbury but checked my data and a noticeable drop in temperature as the front rattled through. It was 8.4°C at 11:40 but just 3.1°C an hour later. It’s currently up to 4.6°C

It was very heavy rain here earlier. Chilly out too once the front had passed through.

Thought there would be more showers behind the front. The wind is really picking up again though.

Well, the wind died down here almost exactly at the time the yellow warning for wind became live. The winds between then and 8am are forecast to only gust to 35mph. From 8am to 1pm, they only max out between 41 and 45mph. That's 10mph less than this morning's forecast winds.

The wind, now, is at it's lowest since Saturday evening as well. A bad day at the Met Office.

15.6mm of rain fell here.
