Nice one Zephyr. I’ve walked my dogs round there hundreds of times. Parents still live right next to it.

Gonna struggle to get down to any meaningful minimum here. It needed to be zero or below by 6pm really. It's 0.5°C at the moment - dropping very slowly.

Man... this makes me miss yesterday already. All good things come to an end. :cray:

Hopefully this winter goes out with a bang again. One last dumping in March would be the icing on the cake.

Whatever people are saying in the MAD thread, I don't think any winter should be called a "write-off" if there has been a big significant snow event in the south AND it's not even the end of March yet! Once there is the first signs of leaves growing on trees, I'm hunting for heat and thunderstorms. Why are people so annoyed though really. Were they hibernating during the 2 cold spells last March?

Rant over.

It has been a great weekend down here and most of the snow will probably melt tomorrow after a hard freeze tonight. Less than I expected to melt has melted today. Sheet ice on side roads though!❄️
Only -0.7c here but will probably get down to -5c or -6c by dawn.

Edit: Lots of people have been posting very nice photos, so thanks for sharing them . I'll share some in here tomorrow evening.

Don't underestimate how quickly the temperature can drop.. in 2010 the temperature dropped from -3 to -10C in 3 hours. The fastest drop and the lowest tenperature recorded. It's going to be very cold indeed

Lightest winds of the night are expected around 6am there is a chance I could reach -10 last night unless things cloud over, it dropped from -3.6c to -6.1c in only 60 mins, i know how quickly the temp can drop!

So incredibly jealous. I suppose you lot deserve it though :-). Been absolutely grim this winter in the east mids. A bit of sleet and, erm, yep that's it. Boo hoo.

It's taken 2 hours to go from 0.2 to -0.6°C here. No chance of anything significantly low.

Interesting to see that many stations across the South have seen temperature rises.

-5.1c now TomW. Let’s see who gets lowest think you may just shade it being more rural than I am.
