Looks like the upper front left the surface occlusion behind as expected based on FAX charts. Not something that shows up well in models that at best have hourly averages.

The surface front continues to advance slowly but surely north. Annoying to have the break in ground temp lowering via bombardment with flakes to initiate settling, but the surface front should bring much heavier rates than the upper, as there's less distance of travel in which they can evaporate in the undercutting cold, dry air.

It would be greatly nice if they would just say look we got it wrong and it's not their fault they're only human I know supercomputer can predict the weather the weather will do what it wants to do as proven now and so many times before .

I haven't seen the points west forecast but it's funny how he is now sitting on the fence yet before he had warnings out so basically all of the forecasters have got it wrong most of us on here including myself I've got it wrong and I don't mind admitting that either but I wish they would on TV

To be fair to Ian, in his main bulletin, he did say that the current picture re: the amber warning did not look to be going as forecast, except for in the extreme south west of that zone.

Hope is coming back. I'm still going to pray until it's proper snowing.

Maybe the front is going to keep disappearing but then reappearing around Warminster giving us in the north of the region a chance?

Its a big bust all going south east sorry met office big fail forcast for south west

What a load of rubbish. The forecast was correct, the warnings appropriate. It was never forecast to be snowmageddon, in fact 1-3cm was forecast for most people and that is what they have had, or will get.

There have been significant impacts on higher routes that completely warrant the warning.

Don't bash the Met Office when it is exactly as forecast

The graphics on Points West showed the snow to the east being pushed north/north west as the evening progresses, bringing quite a lot in our direction. Whether it happens or not remains to be seen...

Did he still think it was game on then?

Temperature is perfect for us at moment. -1.2c. snow just starting to come down abit more.

One more push North and I should be in the heavier stuff, as long as it doesn't break up.

Blimey. Just taken a nice long soak in the bath, expected to come out to see the same sleety mix and it’s heavy snow and settling out there. Splendid.

The only real uncertainty seemed to be how far north it will get. I think totals are impossible to predict, (even at this stage) but it looks like continuing for quite some time. yet.

Yes spotlight suggesting they are cornwall bound plus on saturday when the wind swings to a northerly looks like the Pembroke dangler will be in operation. Somewhere in Cornwall will get a load a snow off that.
