Indeed, for now intensity is bring down the air temperatures, but sadly evaporative cooling is minimal today due to the Strong winds. You'll need a Easterly for full snow, appears from reports in East Devon, that its not too far away.

Fingers crossed eh

The cold air is undercutting steadily from the north due to the minor trough ahead of the main system.  This is excellent news.  In Exmouth we were 6c at 1500, 5c at 1600 and 2c now at 1640 and the rain has turned to sleet.  Charts below.  Note that the NW France view is 1 hours ahead of us.

Thanks for your updates - as always

Feeling raw here now, surface flow due east. The main band has already pivoted right around to a west-east alignment, some 2-3 hours ahead of schedule depending on which model you look at. Eastern trough development rate underestimated, I figure.

Reading reports of rain some 15 miles south of me... models pretty emphatic on it being snow all the way here but I remain sceptical to the last, such is the nature of living here at only about 10 m ASL! I'd be unpleasantly surprised if any rain wasn't quickly replaced by sleet then snow, though.

Yeah still raining here in central Exe but can now see from the radar that the ppt is moving East to West rather than the South to North it was a couple of hours ago.  And as i type, it has changed to large flakes of wet snow.

They say I'm too old

To take joy in the cold

In maturity I must grow

But I say 'who cares'

My inner child bares

An insatiable love of snow

I wait watch and pray

That they're right today

And magic will fall from the sky

Because if it's wet

And not snow that we get

My poor inner child will cry

Look left and look down lol

Not even a hint of sleet. Latest forecast goes for 4 hours of heavy rain, which has been the forecast throughout.
