Massive downgrade on Met Office App for up here, all signs of heavy snow gone, I suspect this is all staying further south...ah well, at least getting around will be easier

Stop micro analysing lol.

Stoud still with plenty of heavy ppn, Dursley will be fine.

In Newquay, Sleet and wet snow has now  given way to just snow. 50p pence flakes. Settling on the grass quickly.

50p'ers... nice

Certainly looks like the front is moving slower, my met office app shows the snow starting at 8pm and carrying on right through till 7am tomorrow morning, 11 hours of snowfall!, if it plays out like that! Before the change it showed the snow starting around 4pm and stopping by 11pm.

Can't see it taking til 8pm to arrive though, going by the radar anyway.

Looks like Bristol's rush hour should escape with no problems.

Can't see any snow arriving here until well into the evening as things stand.

Hoping for a nice covering when I wake up tomorrow morning.

from what im seeing at the moment the intensity is staying the same, i think we need to calm down for the time being

Advice taken, last minute jitters lol.

After watching the MetO forecast from an hour ago again, I'm wondering if it's even pivoting at all. It looks to be following the same track.

I'm liking the intensity and solidarity of the band though.  As things stand, no sign of a split in the PPN developing, with a good intensity of PPN for pretty much all our region.  Let's hope it stays like this.

Looks like I will be doing a 48+ hour awake time as the snow seems to get here through the night on the 6z euro4, I'm not missing it  lucky I suffer from Insomnia at times like this, other times it sucks though.

Deep breaths!! its about to hit the Lyme bay area, its a slight N/E turn, not so much of a pivot yet, looks ok at the moment

Ummm a friend just posted on Facebook that one of her friends works in Exeter for the Metoffice and they’ve just been told to leave work early

Nothing unusual about large organisations doing this. They announce snow warnings at our workplace and recommend considering our travel plans. If everyone decided to leave as soon as it started snowing, it would probably create more chaos than if people filtered out over time and went to work from home etc.

Hoping the front doesn't weaken too much as the Netwx-SR model is pretty underwhelming for Northern parts the W Country (in my view). A now-casting time nevertheless and radar looking good.

Haldon Hill? I'd honestly say there's little chance of you getting through. It's always awful up there and today could be particularly bad looking at this.

Yep, suspect Haldon will be a big headache.  I think a lot of the amber warning in the SW is going to be related to the snow being proceeded by rain and therefore prescriptive gritting is simply not going to work.  I wonder if DCC still have their work gangs of highway maintenance people camped out at the top and bottom of Haldon Hill?

Met Office now updated forecast to say heavy rain on the coast,  where as yesterday they were bullish about snow chances on the coast...feeling very underwhelmed at the moment after waking up looking forward to a day of excitement in Southampton.

Lost count  The number of times I got let down when I used to live down there .  You could drive up to pepperbox Hill not far away and you're probably see loads

Yes that is right, it was called bouncers you can watch on youtube, they used to drive around in a van like rentamob. They were supposed to be stopping trouble but caused more.

The PPN is weakening very quickly now! across the far SW

It is just a radar glitch, it cannot possibly weaken that quickly.
