Overnight low of -3.8C here in the south of Gosport. Currently 1.6C rising +1.2C /hr DP 0.4C starting to become overcast.. UKMO have updated their forecast and have us down for a couple of hours of heavy snow between 8pm and 10pm and have increased the length of the inclement weather. They were originally going for sleet today but seem to be following the BBC forecast which has been forecasting snow since yesterday.

Another upgrade from the meto for here. I'm keeping everything crossed and hoping for some good window watching tonight.

I expect South/South East Wales to get an amber warning from the Meto today.

Yes especially once the band has almost arrived so they are much more confident on who will get most impacted.

A very, very thin veil of cloud here. Everything is frozen solid, including some areas that didn't thaw yesterday. We have waited (im)patiently for months, but our time has come!

Just a quick question. Do the UKMO normally update their video forecast on their website at about 0930hrs?

It'll be rain here when the front arrives. It's on a knife edge as to the transition to snow, and if it does, most of the precip will have moved further inland.

I think you are wrong, proper cold this morning, snow for everyone

With all respect, I know my locale very well when it comes to conditions for snow. This mornings temperatures have no bearing on what happens later today.

Checking sat24.com, there are a few sparks on the back edge of this thing.

Just had a brief shower of ice pellets here in the south of Gosport. Sorry Mother Nature it's close but no cigar.

hmmmm....I would LOVE you to be right

I think you're in a cracking spot - i think the Basingstoke Plateau will cop it this evening.

Looks like rain on the radar atm. Depends when and where it meets the cold air. Even here it's warmed up considerably. Now at -2.5, but who knows what it'll be when the ppn arrives

Looking good for most of us I think. Especially like the Mets idea of a small low forming in the channel this evening...someone might get v lucky.

And loving the term "Basingstoke Plateau" ...not heard that before!

Morning all!

Beautiful sunny crisp frosty morning here in Stroud earlier although the cloud is now rolling in.

Got down to -4 last night and currently -2.5.

Most amazing thing so far today is we also had a frost inside. Extension was at -0.3 earlier and ice on the wrong side of the window! Brr! glad I moved the plants into the warm bit of the house last night.

Good luck today everyone. Really hoping there are some nice surprises for those who think they'll miss out!

Well for what it’s worth I’ve got plenty of snow symbols this morning.
