I had a crash on the school run this morning due to the ice. I am supposed to be going up to Barnstaple  tomorrow to collect a courtesy car but am not sure whether I should put it off until Saturday. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Surely that's part of the fun?

It’s tedious maybe I should block the MO website until tomorrow

ARPEGE has it about as far north as Birmingham with the south coast getting a second bite of the cherry later on.

You should be fine in the AM, I would have thought.

Edit: this is in terms of fresh falling snow, not progged to start falling until about midday. I don't know what conditions are like currently, but will probably be icy again tomorrow am.

Hope so! You always do better where you are compared to Stroud as well... could be v interesting up around Bisley too.

Wow! 15 pages sinve i last logged on! Things are hotting up or should I say cooling down in here

Currently -2.1°C

Been up in Bisley and Birdlip today. Don't think it got much above 2°C all day. Brrr! They had a dusting of snow on the ground from last night still there at 5pm tonight. Always a sweet spot for snow, should be amazing up there tomorrow evening! Almost tempted to go back up but don't want to get stuck!

So hoping everyone in our region gets to see something.

Getting excited now! Pleeeeease no more southward correction just expand it further south instead ❄

Left out the GFS because it's a complete outlier.

Never seen this before, is this from an app?

Why the gap forming in Bristol Somerset..?

As Ian mentioned elsewhere, it's nothing to do with a split front, rather topology and oragraphic forcing will dictate areas which have more or less snow

-5.6c here freezing out there!

Huge difference between us TomW I’m in Frampton Cotterell and it’s -2.7c here at the moment. Guess you are in a more rural location though ?

-3.1°C here now, just what we needed, a hard frost before any snow, much better for settling snow getting that ground temperature down.

Yeah out in the countryside it does seem much lower here than other stations! I’ve compared in the past thinking it was under reading but I’m sure it’s not a faulty reading from a Davis Vantage Vue!
