The Portuguese Meteorological Authority have named Storm Diana for the impacts in the Azores on Tuesday she will then hit the UK from the southwest later on Tuesday & into Wednesday

Not named by the UK or Irish met office

It will be interesting to see whether the met use their own name or stick with the Portuguese name. With Ophelia last year they stuck with that but this isn’t a tropical system.

Storm Emma last winter kept its name.

They don't rename already named storms so they'll be keeping  Storm Diana which will go into the warnings and TV broadcasts in the coming days

Nothing much to get excited about here with winds look to peak in the 40's so a breezy day here. Pretty lively to the west and north of us though.

Schools are closed on Tuesday on the Portuguese Azores Islands, well out in the Atlantic, as #Storm Diana passes to the north. MeteoAlarm  Red warning for coastal event

Acores - Southwest waves of significant height up to 12 meters and maximum height up to 21 meters.

This is where the development will be and why it got its name from IPMA, the Portuguese Met institute. (the next on the UK &Ireland list would have been Deirdre, but once it's named by someone, that is it). It approaches Ireland and UK as a maturing Low pressure bringing plenty of mild, wet and windy weather, quite a change from the cool easterly flow and showers off the North Sea of recent days. Large waves and rough seas are mentioned with Env. Agency barely mentioning surface, river and coastal flooding. Met Office have wind warnings for Weds into Thurs and a small rain one, all Yellow. Daily Express are beside themselves able to combine severe weather and Diana.

Haha...surprised the Express or Mail haven't come up with a better tag  line for the combination of Diana and Storm

Could be a test for your Smartweather item, I'm still not convinced on how secure the mounting plate is on to the base unit!

Yeah, reading between the lines Thursday's storm does look like it has potential to be nasty. Met Office warning suggests gusts of up to 80mph. We haven't got a yellow warning for Thursday in South Devon, but gusts in the middle of the night look like they will be higher than tomorrow (assume no yellow warning due to the fact the worst of the weather will be in the middle of the night).

No problems for me in that department, but it doesn't like wind and rain together. My wind direction is reading wrong and low wind speeds. The sooner I get the new version with the hydrophilic coating, the better.
