Cloudy, dry now after rain overnight, 3.4 mm since midnight and 16.8 mm including yesterday, cold as well in spite of the rain and cloud with a low of 2.9 C

Snow overnight on the A53 Leek road higher up, photo taken by a driver going from Leek to Hope cement works.

Slush and light snow reported at lower levels around Ashbourne, Leek, Buxton etc and at 1200 ft plenty of snow has been reported in the peak district.

Sleet yesterday evening, turning to snow during the early hours, and giving a covering by 0400.Almost  all of this has thawed below 320 m but there's a 40% cover of lying snow at 350 mts. Cloudy and dry at the moment after a breif glimmer of sunshine 10 minutes ago.

Bright spells at first this morning, cloud increasing from the east. Light to moderate showery rain set in after mid morning, continuing through the afternoon and in to the evening, feeling cold and raw.

Some early sleet followed by some sunny spells then mostly cloudy a few bright spells from late morning. A cold day over all.
