Goodness me, the arc of snow wrapping around London not budging, while here in Croydon it remains in an eternal hole of drizzle, lol.

I checked another radar thinking there was a glitch. It really isn't moving.

Have to say the atmosphere in here tonight is brilliant and the complete opposite to last night ,

anyway back in Surbiton and it’s steady light snow , no settling through .

I’m literally next to lakeside shopping centre.

Ah Chafford Hundred I assume?

Used to walk from home to Lakeside all the time, worked up there as well for quite some time.

Wind chill out there at -4.6c, brrr! I mean its no -50 like USA...but that's cold enough for me!

Where abouts mate?

I'm ex-Thurrock from South Ockendon (probably moved out about 6 years ago now) some of my best weather memories were off those Thames streamers and the Thundersnow that would come from the more dynamic of them!

Ah yes K.W,

When I was TOMSE20 and lived at Anerley, S.E.London, I used to use you, at Thurrock and Steve M., at Bexleyheath as markers. Both upwind of me and with an ENE flow knew if you were reporting snow, in all probability it was about to hit me. I can remember looking to the NE and seeing Shooters Hill disappear from view and getting excited!! Lol.

Regards,

Tom. :hi:

Slightly sleety here at the moment, due to the dew points rising a touch along with the temps (now 0.4c).

Sleet on top of snow then freeze is probably the most dangerous combo of all because it cause the snow to become an ice rink, and people never expect it either. When I go out in it tomorrow I'm going to have to be very careful.

Also Saturday night is looing VERY cold, high resolution models have lots of pockets of -7/8c around!

Here you go mate. Nothing spectacular but it’s better than last night

Just over 5cm in Hawkhurst, Kent. Still coming down heavy. People starting to get stuck out on the rounds in the area.

Been heavy snow here in Maidstone for about an hour but because of the rain last night and today its only laying on cars at the moment.

Looked at the radar is there something wrong or is it just not moving ?

Gues what ??? It’s absolou chucking it down with rain here STILL, it’s been all day with no let up what so ever. ....

Just goes to show how localised these events can be. Just a few miles away from you in Hastings/St Leonards on Sea  the heavy rain earlier turned to snow about an hour or so ago and it's still snowing. No chance of settling though.

After seeing this, I went and looked out and couldn’t believe what I saw. Snow! Lots of it and settling, we’re over in Merstham.

Yes they were great days. Feb 2005 in particular was rubbish apart from 2 pretty strong streamers that gave a brief 2-3 inches (and that Thundersnow as well!) We need another one like that or Feb 09 (well one that Paul can join in) because although I'm now no where near the Esturary, a good ENE will just about reach down here, but more impact to Guildford region, which is only a short trip up the A3 anyway. The beast was ok, but I felt like the streamers weren't as impressive as it could have been, especially given the depth of cold.

Kind of fed up to be honest. Would like to move on to the next system, unless we're going to get something decent out of this.

I'm not ready to move on yet... This one's decided to ok itself right over us and not move.... I'm being selfish.... We might not get another chance

Yes m8..indeed we did by far not the best we've ever had but fairly decent.

The snow junkie in me though-is a demon hard 2 please.

Good to see some that missed out are finaly in the shop door...

And lastly my notion on a mid feb easterly incursion still remains of a big probability...imo.which would be ripe for us lot.

But i'll leave all that stuff 4 the mod thread.

I'm hoping you will be right on this I'll remember this when it occurs Bring on the Beast!

Ps snow still going strong here though it's more slushy deposits than proper snow like I saw in Hillingdon earlier but I'll take it!

It's slipping south now and loosing a bit of intensity, but probably another hour to go here at least.

All surfaces going white now, even the saturated road.

Amazing change in fortune!
