What is interesting is how different models are evolving the front, some are shearing the thing into oblivion as soon as it enters our regions. Others are holding it quite well till it gets north of the Thames, then it disintegrates. This is obviously leading to some large differences. I do feel sorry for the Met office with this type of set-up, because it could totally bust and make their warnings look over-exaggerated, but equally it could come in stronger than expected and make the warnings not be enough.

Yes this whole week has been a forecasting nightmare! Hopefully the residual snow in the garden will have a top up. Thought it would melt more to be fair.

It is beautiful, I moved here 19 years ago with a three year plan!!! That's the tower that was also built by the same landowner as Leith Hill Tower. Have you ever found the waterfall between Broadmoor and Friday Street?

I've been to Friday Street but never heard of a waterfall near there?!

I’m sure that we will all love your input, especially when those water levels rise!

LOL..well if you are within my area, will try and help as much as I can.  Mainly Coastal now, but cover the odd fluvial duty now and then.

18z ARPEGE still looks ok for roughly 2-5cms south of the Thames.

Also worth noting that it also has the showers early morning coming into the far south and this does give accumulations again to same locations I mentioned regarding the ICON/Euro4.

showers ahead of the front?

Seen the 18z GFSP ? - pivot point London !

Oh ye of little faith...the front's going to stall twenty-miles' north of Ipswich, providing copious amounts of snow to both North Suffolk and Norfolk!

I’m not, but I guess that you are always on the watch for a 1953 situation. Thankfully none of that on the horizon.

In answer to both, yes I have been to the waterfall.

I have done two videos last Thursday with my friend Richard Vobes, aka the Bald Explorer...

the tower:

The waterfall:

(we also did a couple of videos around leith Hill tower and one on Friday Street earlier this year...) I’ve done quite a few with him now!

It's not a natural one, again built by the landowner of Leith Hill tower so I believe. It's also close to the source of the Tillingbourne.

This Wikipedia link talks about it:https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friday_Street#Tillingbourne_Waterfall

This one from the getsurrey website. Some good walks nearby:

Only when I was a scout and we used to night hikes from the youth hostel - Richard and I are videoing (slowly) the Greensand way but we started from leith Hill and are walking east but we will go further west!

Something that hasn’t been mentioned. But the beeb forecast looked like there was a chance of streamers setting up along the estuary. Anyone got any thoughts on this?

I actually think the views from the top of Holmbury Hill are better than those from Leith Hill, especially on days like today!

It’s already moved 500 miles in a week. ! Unlikely there will be any major shifts now it is 12hrs away from hitting Uk land

Met Office have just moved it further south, yet again, heavy snow symbols virtually gone now anywhere north of the Thames, bit better WNW of London though, just north of M4. Anyway, hope this moves a bit further north again tomorrow because if it goes any further south most of us will miss out and end up  with just the odd flurry.

1-4cm Essex low chance of 5+

2-8 N/W of London

Kent ( mainly west ) 2-8cm as well

Surrey / Berks lottery land - 2-10

W Sussex - up to 12cm but that could be tempered by temperature & low ratios...

Less towards E sussex..

How do you think Gravesend and Dartford NW Kent will do Steve? 5cm?

Yes Steve, and for what it’s worth, the BBC London 2240 was pretty bullish about snow pushing up through Gtr London and north of it
