Really pushing through quickly here in Central Bedfordshire

Still all rain.

Not much ppn left should it get a chance to change to snow.

Fingers crossed for Thursday here.

ECM shifts even further south with the core of the heavier precip, now the heavy stuff (2 inches in 3hrs) is limited to southern counties of England. There is snow for this whole region but its not too amazing, probably 2-3 inches broadly speaking for most.

ECM also does have a weaker front in general that weakens faster this run.

Oh dear sounds slightly pessimistic from earlier trend.

Wife just came in to the room and closed the curtains blocking my view of the local lampost .

How Dare She , suffice to say the Curtains are again open.

Still rain here, though more sleety than before. I'm not that far from you but you've got about 90M on me, and that's making the difference. I think it'll turn to snow for me right on the back end, which at least will be nice to finally see some this winter I suppose!

Still looking decent enough for places further east of me however, especially as you have time advantage.

We got a heavy blob which I think is what did it, not sure it covered you up there. Think you're right about that back edge, soon be past us though!

Sleet coming down, probably 5-10 mintes away from total snow I'd guess, then the back end snow for 20-30 mins. Could be worse, more or less as predicted by the higher resolution models.

Snow line should chase the front eastwards faster than it can move and so the further east you are, the more of the band will be of snow, and the greater the chances of settling snow at that.

Miserable rain here!

I would take anything you see on the radar with a pinch of salt. Seem to be all sorts of noise going on.

That must be one hell of a lemon if it's blocking your view totally!

What does this mean for East Anglia? I haven’t looked at the radar and I keep seeing people saying that the backend is already at Bedfordshire.

It is bone dry here.

Very confused.

No we wer about 10 miles too far north. no issue snow is probably literally minutes away now.

Despite the slightly less than impressive ECM precip wise, I'm still pretty confident of getting a decent fall of snow on Thursday, dynamics should work out a little better for it, though it will be a close run thing probably for both of us (your height may help, as may my slightly more northerly latitude.

Did people really expect it to be all snow right of the bat?

Rain > Snow event was always, always looking like the way it was going. Many areas also now starting to report rain is turning to snow.. largely as expected. 8/9pm is when we should see more widespread reports of snow not only to higher ground but to lower levels, too. 1-3cm still widely expected by me, 5cm over higher peaks of the region.

Coastal regions? Who knows, take what you can get I suppose.

Save your breaths folks aren't going to listen

Sleet is my biggest weather hate, cold rain running it close. Expect to experience both tonight

Chucking it down with rain here in Uxbridge, so I'm off for the hike down the M25 to Surbiton. Radar is showing pink approaching, so let's see if I get snow for the journey back. I'm going in chaps, I'll report from the other side when I get there.

Out tells me I should be under precipitation here (rain) but there’s nothing. Not sure if that’s good or bad

Front has reached Hunstanton but nowhere near cleared us yet, i'd say you're about guaranteed some snow later, maybe even a couple cm over in norwich

still rain here in Hunstanton but i think first sleet is mixing in if my eyes are telling me the truth

So, after heavy rain, then heavy sleet and then 20 minutes of (not lying) heavy snow it turned back to rain for about 40 minutes.

Now the temp has dropped to about 0.7c, it's back to sleet/snow mix, but turning more to snow over time.
