Was hoping this was wrong about tonight but it doesn’t seem so. Anyway heavy sleety rain here now. Hmmm

The fact you're seeing sleety rain already is perhaps a good sign given the less cold air hasn't moved away yet

As you’re inland a little and on the downs you may get a covering I would guess, how far are you from the coast?

I’m up near Hollingbury golf course. Fiveways way. Sometimes we get it bad and city centre have next to nothing.

Radar pepping up again I see as it heads towards oxford now

This could be great time for us in the southeast

Temp will drop from now on and dew pts

So the ‘wear a black jumper and go in the garden’ test showed there was sleet in the rain here. Just a shame the neighbour looked out the window just as I was staring intently at my arm. The things we do when we’re addicted to all things snow 😂

Not really the 850’s are set to rise a bit first before falling again later.

meanwhile in darkest bedford the sun  popped out for a bit and it's currently 5.5C. Myself paddington and pooh eagerly  await the coming rain.

'but they said snow..' said Paddington.

'just not here,' said pooh.

And pooh as we know is a bear of very little brain.

12z ICON still going for a bit of a mixture, with the back end more in the way of snow. Worth noting it turns increasingly into pure snow over Kent, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk.

Yeah I went to Varndean college in 2010/11 when we had some big snow events it was really bad up there whenever it snowed and would stay longer than most of Brighton, I reckon you could get an inch or 2 but borderline, still quite close to the coast despite altitude. It’s pouring down with rain here by the sea so altitude difference already making a difference as you have sleet.

Thursdays feature will be of mostly cold rain as well. I’m afraid a westerly incursion moving into not-so-cold air is simply to marginal (in fact very unlikely) for snow.

DP and temps far to high.

ICON as Kold says shows pure snow the further east you are. Looks good for me here in Essex! Plan A. World domination can wait.

Still dry here in Epsom. Although I've just stepped out of the Hairdresser's, which usually means it chucks it down about 10 minutes after.

An hour of sleety snow in Norwich? I think we will get more than that given that it comes here during night hours. 😁

Had sleet. It’s gone now!

Was quite impressive whilst it’s lasted though 🙂

Yes, I know Varndean very well.

We had a rainy sleety outbreak here a few minutes ago. Only about a foot of lying snow from that, nothing to write home about.

Talking of ICON, a touch closer to the GFS (just a touch) in terms of the way it is evolving the front. Far south is more marginal but that is balanced out by a more intense precipitation.

Would prove a very interesting rush hour for the SE though for sure if it was right!

PS- very similar again to the 06z ECM by the way.

Good luck all for any accumulations!

I think just about all of us should see a few falling flakes, possibly not settling and possibly not lasting much more then an hour or two but will still be a pretty sight nonetheless. Don't forget that we have Thursday evening to look forward to for another snowfall which i think might just be the one for some..

Hopeful with around 100m elevation and being quite far east, that Orpington will do ok - probably more so the Cheslfield end which goes up to more like 150m.
