Ah, I am very happy the hills have had so much snow. Any other Saturday and I would be out there playing in it. This time I am off to Banff where they have a snow storm bringing 10-40cms! Will be interesting to see if we land in Calgary where scheduled to do so, or somewhere else in Canada instead.

I was heading home to Tenterden from Tunbridge Wells. I’d taken my boys to their Nana’s and they wanted to play in the snow. We got as far as the Blue Boy roundabout and turned back. It was bedlam. Heavy, thick snow, snails pace driving back towards the ex’s as there was no way I was going through the lanes with three kids and risking getting stuck. Got down to Tonbridge where there was nothing. Mad!!

Morning all,

It must have been me stopping the snow from falling with any potency at first, last night. Perhaps I still carry the Snow Depth Cup jinx? 

Come 10 o'clock last night, I was feeling very tired. I turned my Laptop off and prepared myself for bed.

I decided to have one more look, out of the front door. The snow was bucketing down with already a complete cover on all surfaces. This carried on for another hour or so and stopped around midnight, or so. 

I got up during the night and noticed that the complete snow cover was starting to diminish, no doubt due to the fact that the ground was so wet initially.

I've just seen my Wife off to work, at a Residential Care Home in Chislehurst and there is still a partial covering of snow outside, although much reduced compared to when the snow was at it's heaviest, last night.

I want to apologise to those members in East Kent, in Alexis/Lottie land. The idea of a train of showers hitting this area, didn't quite come off. Showers stubbornly staying offshore, probably due to the fact that there was a tad too much North, in the flow!! I see a slight "Wash Streamer" fired up though with a portion breaking off and heading for N.London but fizzling before reaching there.

I t really has been a fascinating 24+ hours of weather observing. As I stated last night, in the 50+ years of observing the weather in Bromley and surrounding areas, I can't remember witnessing a rain>snow event twice, in 24+ hours. That's right up there with some of my best weather memories!!

I just want to say a big thank you to Darren (Kold Weather), Nick Finnis, Steve Murr and Paul Sherman. Some fantastic posts and very helpful technical input, in what became a very complex, Synoptic set-up. Their posts made the  last 24+ hours, even more enjoyable.

I'd also like to thank all those who reported from my Home Borough of Bromley. Always nice to know how my 'ole "stomping ground" is shaping up, in these situations. Finally, a big thank you to John Stevens for his kind comments regarding my anecdotal "ramblings"!!

PS. Also wanted to say what a great Weather Forum, this is. It's really "come into it's own", in the last couple of days. With all the up to date snow reports and conditions, out in the "field". The sort of current information that large Weather Organisations, can't compete with!!

My sister in law lives in Walderslade and is moaning because she hates snow but she did tell me a Mum and baby have been killed in their car due to a fallen tree?! Assume heavy weight of snow?

No, that wasn't true, just a nasty rumour started by someone. The people in the car under the tree were absolutely fine, just shaken.

They were trees that were looking a bit dodgy anyway and the weight from the snow has brought about a dozen down. One of them landed on a car, but passengers fine. Roads are closed whilst the fire brigade deal with the trees.

Managed a light sprinkling here last night from the North Sea showers, to my surprise. Must have been quite a heavy one as all paths and minor roads covered with a light sprinkling m. Doesn’t quite make up for the disappointment of the last few days but is nice to see!

Elevation makes all the difference.

0cm here even though precipitation was reasonably heavy in the early hours (a slushy dusting on a few cars and the grass)

Let’s all breath , why an earth the people In the model thread still wanting a mega freeze.? I just don’t get it they have hardly mentioned what’s happened in the last few days . I’m ready to really annoy them and tell them I’m looking for spring like weather..... roll on the warmth!
