Your not suffering from funny business like I did last night are you?

Nick, yep HIRLAM has been awesome in all fairness, just like last year. Euro4 to be fair was good this morning as well...but HIRLAM by far the best.

It's your revenge! Does your birthday suit pledge still stand?

I'm comparing the radar image to google traffic maps and would expect to see Bracknell and Wokingham at a standstill if they were having heavy snow, but they appear to be flowing normally. Either it's all graupel in those areas, or the radar has something amiss...

Grandaughter has been enjoying the snow in Wooton basset, even if grandad here got freezing cold and soaked in surrey/se London today!

NEW MET OFFICE Snow Warning for West Surrey and Hampshire, Looks like a good fall of snow for these areas. Extending up to around Staines / Heathrow at the eastern limit. Snow drifting its way away south into the channel later this evening..

Surprised they didn't go with amber, seems pretty likely to me given what we can see on the radar that this is occurring. Ah well, I suppose 2-3cms probably doesn't justify it.

Do you expect it to linger like it did over wiltshire and berks ?

From the met office - the front will move southeast during the rest of the afternoon and early evening giving further accumulations of snow in places especially across central and southern parts of Thames valley, Hampshire, Surrey and West Sussex. We could see further accumulations if 2-3cm with a few places on high ground seeing as much as 3-7cm.

Already out of date. I'm at 100 metres and there has been at least 4cm already. Still going strong with big flakes.

Maybe there just isn't that many people traveling up there today because of the overnight snow? Probavbly nit though. Maybe time to look at a webcam.

PS, you can really clearly see though on the traffic maps where the snow is falling, pretty amazing actually!!

On the very latest radar return it looks like a new shallow low is forming over S Hampshire with a dry slot pushing north. The precipitation has just died off in the last 15 mins.. is this possible ?

Yes, I always use it as a proxy for where snow is falling to confirm. There would have been les people travelling today because of the snow this morning, but even with light traffic the roads go orange in heavy snow as drivers slow down.

Unfortunately, many of the traffic cameras on the M4 around J10 and 8/9 are out of action due to roadworks.

Looks like BBC playing catch-up. Do they do their warnings based on looking out of various windows?

Would hate to be on the west stretch of the M25 right now

That's known as the @kold weathergap. It's a recently discovered mesoscale feature...

Fab snow day, with lots of sledging this afternoon. About 10 cm here near Amersham. Had our fair share this week and last. Hope those that haven’t had any yet get some this evening.

North Hampshire (Fleet) and already had about 4-5cm in the past hour. Heavy snow, big flakes, tumbling down ...bonkers brilliant!

Took some photos this morning before heading off to work while the kids got there snow day!!  Lol

Lovely 9cm of snow here.  Had a couple of light snow showers this afternoon.  It's 2c here now and dew point of 0c.

Radar shows snow but nothing falling from the sky at the minute.

Despite the radar there doesn't seem to be anything falling near the M25

Radar:

Traffic for same area:

No way traffic would be flowing at normal speed if that was heavy snow. Anyone in Wokingham or Bracknell able to confirm conditions? HAving trouble locating any cameras.

Those in medway who haven’t had snow and want a fix get yourself up to blue bell hill/walderslade woods. Extremely heavy snow settling to everything accumulating quickly. Even settling on the M2 between blue bell hill and Gillingham (junction 3-4) - quite dangerous.
