I feel that there is a little localised disheartment at the moment, and I feel your pain.

But the night is young and the forecast stretches for a good few hours yet. Here's hoping.

Looks like everything is intensifying just north of here, not even a dusting here yet. It happens, pleased for those who hit the jackpot tonight.

This band actually is the real deal this time, looks like the backedge has enough instability to finally piunch through whatever dry layer has been say over us all night.

Mark - there isn't anything due behind this band I'm currently in, once that passes to the north unless the whole front bends back over me (not forecasted to do so at the moment by the latest charts) then this really is night over.

Low pressure looks like its finally to my east based on the curvature and direction of travel.

Back to a few flakes in the wind. Heavier stuff to south seems to be filling and heading this way though.

Heavier burst in Hailsham though more sleetified do not adding to what’s on the ground.

Still, been a cracking evening here. Best since Jan 13.

There has been a decent covering in Bracknell...next postcode up rg42...a tad higher but not enough to shout about. I'd say 3-5cm. I'll take it.

Yes. If the temperature drops back below freezing I think we'll see a bit more depth. The snow was very wet when I was out walking and I suspect that the snow has compacted as temperature has been around 0.2-0.3 for past couple of hours.

Blob to south of Reading seems to be keeping its intensity and is heading straight for me so looking ok. Probably a bit too far west for you though

Unfortunately for me, its not really settling at all well, ground was made too wet by the earlier snizzle and temps still are +0c so there is still melt going on all the time. Otherwise it probably would make 1cm, just about.

Main roads are totally clear. Gritters have done their job well.

For areas to my north - looks like the band is starting to pivot around, could be a decent fall in Guildford area for example.

I'm going to be just a little too fsr south (story of the night, not quite right location at any point!) to make the most of that, as I'm almost out of the otherside, but for you guys further north it may still be ok.

OK band has gone to far north now, time for bed. The band of rain is now welcome to clear here asap, before it melts whatever has managed to land.

Night everyone, hope it stays as snow for most of you. It was nice watching the snow fall.

Yes. Noticed that clouds seem to coming from a NE direction now. Could the worm be turning?

Could be good for here again if it does.
