Very small icy flakes blowing around in the wind here in Strood/Rochester but you have to look rather hard to see them*

*Might not actually exist outside of my head

New on here so hi everyone.  Here in Great Horkesley Nr Colchester which is north Essex the wind has recently picked up.  temperature currently showing as 0.4c and quite a bit of low cloud which I guess is on the back of a SE wind bringing air of a relatively warmer south North Sea,  Radar looks really interesting and think met teams are under playing potential particularly for kent.  Hopefully as a snow lover Essex has a chance too.  Wll update if I see any flakes.  Fyi, currently have slight covering still from snow the other night in shade areas.  Top temp today showed 2.3c after last nights -6.6c.  best regards JPDM

I think anyone on the Essex coast is going to be disappointed tonight, now up to 2.1c, the models did suggest this could be the case.

Larger flakes now!

You are in Hastings... right? Down on seafront... snow that even if it settled and continued for an hour wouldn't look like a frost!

Could be a radar error but a big gap in the middle of the PPN seemed to fill in really nicely in the last half hour or so

The French radar clearly shows the band arcing around nw.

So it moves east but then the precip moves nw aswell.

Big wrap around, Nick? I could get battered in NW Essex then....

Well looks like I'm going to be in the screw zone afterall. Bah!

You can see the first band setting up (just gone through) and the 2nd band to the south and an area of very little precip in the middle. (which is where I am, that is the screw zone ;) )

I know the first band for now isn't producing much but the more it sits and develops in situ, eventually it will overwhelmi the drier air.

EDIT- the screw zone does not mean no snow by the way, its just the zone that will have relatively less snow than everyone else by virtue of the way the bands are setting up.

I take the blame fully, This is why I never normally tell people it going to snow, who would have thought that frontal snowfall would skip over our area.

Use the meteociel radar as it gives a better idea .

The precip is now arcing nw towards the eastern Thames Estuary .

Its beginning to look like the energy has sheared off from the front and its moving away east along the english channel towards the far north of france whilst the snow falling over Surrey, Sussex's and Hants is becoming weaker.. this seems very odd.
