This place is a hoot .

I love all the obituaries before the event has even properly started!

Yes, a few children in here! Or budding soap actors

Cloudy near Heathrow, getting very close to freezing and the E wind is definitely feeling effing freezing!

Showers starting to break out in the north sea around north side of the Thames estuary. If these continue to build they will feed in land north of London when the pivot starts ..can’t post image for some reason ??‍♂️

nothing coming out of the blob on radar over me in clacton on sea,so maybe a fake echo,i know in the past the windfarms of the essex coast has mucked up the radar

It’s a double edged sword .

If the band just rushed north then the drama would be the snow turning to rain but it would arrive more quickly .

You have to have the band moving east and north if you’re in southern and se areas. This event by its nature won’t please everyone . Unfortunately very few events do in the UK.

So much activity on here tonight, imagine what it would be like if we had any snow!

I am somewhat positive about our regions chances tonight, reckon there's going to be some major surprises come the morning.... but then again I am the Ying to Froze were the Days Yang, so who knows?

Looks to me like its all on a path to hit Kent and London. Wouldn't be surprised if we get a little streamer once the easterly has kicked in for a few hours.

typical people always wanting more inches than they have lol

Nick what’s your thoughts on streamer potential ?

In terms of what you see with a deep cold easterly in terms of convection . There’s not that level of cold and the cloud cover associated with the front will subdue that , but the estuary could provide some extra energy to the occlusion itself .

Reports of snow in Sevenoaks/Maidstone on Twitter so the lighter stuff ahead of the main band is now reaching the ground. Isn't social media great?

The first few tentative flakes of snow now falling here in St Leonards on Sea.( East Sussex ) I'm just 2 miles from the seafront so the fact it hasn't started as rain is a plus for this area.

Well looks like I'm going to be in the screw zone afterall. Bah!

You can see the first band setting up (just gone through) and the 2nd band to the south and an area of very little precip in the middle. (which is where I am, that is the screw zone ;) )

I know the first band for now isn't producing much but the more it sits and develops in situ, eventually it will overwhelmi the drier air.

EDIT- the screw zone does not mean no snow by the way, its just the zone that will have relatively less snow than everyone else by virtue of the way the bands are setting up.

Light snow in St Leonard's, hopefully we will get clobbered with a few inches soon (oo-err). Time for a brandy and lamp post watch! Radar looks impressive...

Just had a quick peek outside the front door, certainly smells like snow imminent.
