Looking  at  the radar some very heavy snow brewing in the channel  could get very interesting around our area ex what happening in the west country at  the  moment

I think people are getting ahead of themselves. This is in no way going to be near 2010. South Downs could get a moderate dump. The Estuary will not fire tonight or tomorrow. Please, nobody mention snow-shields either. That one gets right up my snorter!!

I'm calling rain for the Tendring Peninsula in Essex.  Unlike the Southend area, the system moves slowly over a greater expanse of mild sea (7oC at the moment).

I think we're in a better place for a streamer tomorrow though.

sounds good...still a lot of uncertainty about this evening still..

it does upset me when people say "bingo" or "jackpot" for the south east and we still see the tip of kent (thanet) out of the equation, something I should have got used too but never will

I feel your pain.. but it also happens quite often in west london ! (being neither east or west or north or south enough most of the time)

just popped head into the South West forum - by heck there are a lot of disgruntled people in there! The amber warning area the meto put up have had little precipitation to date and it seems to have formed a 'dry slot' right over this area, potentially could leave these parts with barely a sprinkling!

Anyway, the radar looks to me like the fronts primary energy is being pushed east...which could benefit Kent and the like later on. Will be watching with interest once it starts heading North and keeping an eye on intensity.... interesting times

Hope you are right Bill but I don't think the dp's will work out for coastal parts of suffolk even IF we do get the precipitation. Wouldn't be surprised if places like Haverhill or Sudbury caught a bit though.

The secret is not to let it depress you, if i get nothing and the rest of them South of me get buried then good on em, thats just the way it was meant to be, if it really feels that bad then maybe meteorology might not be for you.

I'm in Haverhill until 10pm tonight... but think it will hit later than that (if it does get this far North). I think our best chances may will be in the morning and tomorrow evening once the showers feed in - but there is a risk these could be more rain/sleet on the coast and there's a question mark on their ability to settle... maybe not quite cold enough for that

Need to see this pivot west northwest from now on in to give us in the south and west of London for a good chance of a dumping.

Just going by the radar returns she just may be doing that..

I remember that event had a low that formed neaer Kent and worked its way up the channel towards the IoW before dipping southwards. Wonder if we are going to see that in reverse (dare I say, that is a little channel low like...)

Temperature at 0.6c having risen a touch from 0.5c. Dew points -2c.

Funny you mention 2010 dec 1 st/2nd I was thinking how that event unfolded and what uppers we had. I think it was generally much colder than this one . Below a trip down memory lane
