Just a question do we think that convection will pep up showers during tomorrow for Kent with that n ne wind

I do (whether that means anything I'm not sure lol)

Some models show extended precip in the north kent/london/south essex region due to this

So are we looking at just 1-3cm then across our region if METO are correct .?

Just regarding the met..

Our region contains some of the highest population counts in the uk...2 add the capital...so plenty of caution on there part as leading forecasters.

This will go down 2 the wire!..

Hmmm. Not looking as good for us? Obvs a very fluid situation so could be some changes...

There is a massive potential for a streamer to set up in the early hours

But most people own Freelanders or Range Rovers in the areas in question - so they should be fine in adverse weather

Keeping good intensity over land in France...though mostly all rain over land still.

A question to those more knowledgeable than me - we haven't really talked about whether there's a good chance there could be more rain/sleet around than forecast. The met have updated their warning and it includes elevation. Makes me wonder if this could be more of a player than we originally thought?

METO pushing back again to after 10pm for Medway, but with much higher intensity and running through to late morning.

I wonder if they are spotting the streamer potential.

Pretty much as forecasted with 2-3hrs of light-moderate snowfall (maybe a little heavier in the far south.) coming into our area a little later than originally expected but its ok. Basically that looks like Euro4 which gives a general 2-5cms covering for most in at least the south/west of the region (isolated areas upto 7cms on the downs in particular).

For my area West Oxon, the Met Office weather forecast is now showing heavy snow from 19:00 to midnight. That is quite an upgrade on what it was saying earlier.

Well going by that video, it does not very good, looks like a lot of rain mixed in esp in the south east.
In fact it looks pretty poor overall, showers look mainly of rainy sleet after the front as well.

I think that is more relevant for locations further west of here where they have it arriving during daytime which always was going to be more marginal. By the time it gets here we should be ok.

However one word of warning would be for the coasts on the Thames Estruary. On the easterly wind your going to be drawing in more marginal surface airflow which under what is a very tame upper flow (-5/6C 850hpa) and perhaps rising dew points, may argue for sleety stuff rather than snow, or if it does snow, may struggle to settle due to this. UKMO forecast above highlights that risk really well on where the front is and how it is rain on the eastern most flank over the Estuary.

Good point about the shift in wind, and that does get highlighted in the HIRLAM model. However it'll be after the main band of snow so hopefully it'll not do too much damage, and maybe just far enough away from the caost and small elevation, with snow cover, may help. Its interesting though. So many small things = big potential changes.

That still doesnt change the fact that for the majority its going to be game on - more snow reports across the region than Tuesday and higher depths too.

I'm getting the popcorn and the beers and enjoying the ride

Dont be surprised if its closer to midnight looking at pace of it on the radar and what some models are saying

I'm not sure why there is a sudden panic on here about that METO forecast... It still looks good... The potential for streamers is massive.

Seems Temp and DP have plateaued after a giddy high of 5.8c and 1.1c today. Maybe just starting to slowly creep down
