Just noticed METO have moved forward to 6pm for Medway now, and the rain symbols have all disappeared..

Wondering if that low being spoken about off the SW coast is assisting in pushing things through faster? I think it is possible for some wintriness before the main band comes a little later anyway. We'll see.

Latest meto warnings noticing the North Sea having a little wake up post low.

Yes and the UKMO model we have access to on the main UKMO site does show a decent number of showers coming...just a HINT of a streamer as well I have to say!

Yes you are correct! The amber just sneaks into MetO SE region doesn't it. These maps are bloody confusing sometimes!

The radar returns already look stronger than the Arpege forecast for around 11 am .

More importantly its coming through quicker than the ARPEGE/AROME suggested.

By the way, I'm in the 'screw' zone on the UKMO website radar estimate. The front kicks up a gear near London, but dies to my south. I'm basically in between with very light snow throughout. Too far north for the stronger front edge, to far south for it when it gets re-energised (AROME does show that re-energising to the north near London by the way). Thats pretty typical how things usually work out for me ;)

Very interesting they look like there saving that for later

Curious... I would have expected hants and West surrey to be in the amber zone already.

The Amber basically just covers the New Forest / SW Hants atm, I guess they may extend east and NE if it looks like the snow will be heavy for other parts of the SE later, guess a case of watching how things develop on the radar.

Keep the faith KW!

I think it’s a case now of just watching what happens . There could still be some surprises .

Is Hastings about to get a bonus morning dusting?

Here in St Leonards on Sea I had a very brief and light graupel shower, a case of blink and you missed it.

So three trends on the 06z so far for the southern part of the region:

1:The main stronger precipitation working from the SW may just be too far south for most bar maybe the coastal zone.

2: Front MAY re-energise to an extent in the London region, wonder whether or not we could see some help from the Estuary on that?

3: COULD be quite a lot of showery activity coming in behind the main front. There is forecast to be a bit of a drier slot between 1 and 2 happening which may be dependent on the fronts location. Some areas may have just a dusting from the front and so WILL need the showers for any decent accumulations above 0.5cms.

Nick - I'm not too downbeat, IF I do get into the screw zone - I've got the South downs about 5 miles to my south, I'll get my snow fix up there

What are the Channel temps. Would have thought the warm sea track should give it some strength.

Have had confirmation of snow in Petersfield and Horley at the moment.  Showers popping up.  Weren't as much fog as first thought,  is that a good thing or a bad thing with regards to the temps?

i think you need to try and maintain good humour throughout these situations otherwise you'll have a meltdown!

I fully expect the band of precip to split into two and divert either side of West Oxon thus piddling on the smug bonfire I lit after yesterdays model viewing lol
