Comfortably in 3-7cm zone shown by the BBC breakfast forecast, but expecting 3cm at best in south London, always best to lower expectations.

00z EC although eases the snow after midnight, keeps patchy snow going through Friday morning and showers through afternoon

Nice here this morning.

Had to put a bit of heat on in our converted garage as getting too cold for deep freeze to work. Seems daft but they don’t like it too cold. Unfortunately not cold enough to just open lid

Well the old adage is "get the cold in and the snow will follow" . Well that's definitely the case in coulsdon this morning. Temp -8.1c dp -9c . So the coldest night of winter to date.

Seen my missus like a tornado more often than that.

A bit parky out there this morning - though the snow covered downs looked beautiful with a frosty top up!

Awaiting the snow later, may be able to scrape an amber warning

Some of it is I'm no longer quite in the jackpot zone, so it is a touch IMBY. But Im just trying to ensure people don't ramp like mad then moan when it doesn't give ad much as people thought like Tuesday.

Best set low expectations and then be surprised.

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned already, but the BBC forecast just now showed heavy rain moving over much of Kent tomorrow during the day.

Doesnt give much hope for any snow that does settle tonight.

This winter has been full of promise but has not been delivering the goods

Along the occluded front which will bring our snow later, maybe some thunder snow for south coastal areas later?

Amazing sunrise here in Watford this morning. Not sure how well that picture will come out though.

Lots of areas in the shade still had yesterday mornings frost in the evening so much of the ground will be able to hold this mornings frost throughout the day. This could make it much much easier for snow to settle than it was on Tuesday on a warmer and wetter ground.

03z ICON looks ok for the southern counties plus Surrey, possibly into S London.

Looks like 2-3hrs of light-moderate snow for most. Hopefully more moderate!

Any sign of possible streamers kold?

Nick, certainly perky in that area. That is the area forecasted to come close to the far south, maybe head inland a little. It will make a big difference to totals if that happens, possibly doubling.

-5c with a thick freezing fog here this morning. Ironically it is more white than it was yesterday with our “snow cover”

Enjoy your snow storm southerners.
