Temp and DP dropping fast now in moderate rain in Reading.

The rain is definitely proceeding the radar at the moment. It's been raining for at least 45 minutes here but showing as clear still for this postcode

You need to get a new radar! This was 30 mins ago

It's near the Thames right now and in the middle of a city. Don't worry too much

Ignore precip type radars, most are a guess, they do not actually detect the precip type or are often wrong

bbc national forecast graphics (yes I know) at lunchtime for this region were less encouraging than yesterday and certainly showed more rain than snow and of course they covered their backs by not ruling out a covering of wet snow particularly on higher ground.

Amazing how so many people keep mentioning 'cold' persisting on the model thread and BBC forecasters saying lows running into cold air...punch me when 'cold' arrives as today got up to 6.3c only fractionally below normal for the time of year and yesterday only marginally colder, these daily maxes are just not noteworthy!

As for tonight really not expecting anything in my neck of the woods...don't mean to be a killjoy but just saying it as I see it and I've recorded winters since 1983.

Yea i agree.. Below 200ft mix i reckon.. Above that yea maybe some settling, its because we really had nixie here all winter

You can't get snow with a 1c dew point. I had heavy rain at 1.5c two days ago.

Oh yes you can. Here's a ready-reckoner chart which I've used for many a year - the source site for the raw data was posted a while back. (It shows the percentage chance of snow and I did it after a thread on TWO years ago where I suggested that if the temperature and dewpoint added together came to zero or less, there was a good chance of snow. Turns out that it's a good rough estimate.)

Guessing nobody even bothered watching the Video posted yesterday then.

I did say that between 4-7pm this thread would be dominated with people gfuqhgfpjhing about rain when thats what was exactly what was expected to happen before the undercut came in

Guessing that was the best forecast of the week
