Wondering if that snow will turn to rain as it hits the urban heat island of London. Either way snow coming from the West always competes with the North Downs an loses in my area.

Just about to start driving from M4 jct17 to Medway and it has just rapidly changed from heavy sleet to heavy snow! Driving back to Medway...could be fun!

Well my lamppost is at the ready for tonight, and if we do get any signs of settling snow i will be waking family up for a midnight snow walk to make the most of it..

The last time it snowed overnight here was boxing day I think 2015, started about 11pm and settled well with i'd say nearly 5cm by 1am when it stopped.. woke up at 6am to go out with family to build snowmen and upon checking out the window it was all gone! I was certain i'd imagined it.. still am to be honest! Does anybody else remember that?

Just peeped in the Midlands thread.... plenty of snow reports in there and its settling too... even after initial rain.

Looking promising for a fairly widespread 'covering' I'd say, but one to watch.

Interestingly - dew points have been quite favourable here for most of the day and there was still ice in the puddles only an hour ago. Won't be far off re-freezing come night-fall - that precip should hit just at the right time. But we'll see

The temperature profiles across London are awful, if we're around 3.c I'd be more optimistic but 6.c is wayyy too high.

You are very confident compared to everyone else, how do you think Greenford will do?

GFS is an utter outlier tonight in terms of Thursday. 12z GEM now onboard with snow which is a huge change.

GFS op I'm sure will look very different come tomorrow morning I suspect. Just need to wait for ECM for a full house other than GFS.

3.8c now.

I use this snow risk calculator which is usually fairly accurate once the figure gets to 70%.
