Morning all, I'm driving up to London tonight for a birthday meal so on a selfish note I'm hoping we don't see any snow, knowing what the roads get like if one snowflake hits it and a 45min journey can turn into 3-4 hour one.  Saying that though it can snow all it wants once I've got home

How is the Icon looking for Thursday Kold, been quite impressed with that.

Very far south, barely lifts this into the Midlands, predominantly a South event, great for us though I'm afraid to say somewhat unlikely to be that far south IMO.

Be interesting to see if it adjusts towards ECM and UKMO in next run or sticks to its guns.

I’m not mentioning it to anyone at work today. Trying to get it to snow to spite me for not telling anyone it might

Coldest night of the year here at -3.4c before it clouded over. Now much warmer at 1.8c...hopefully it’ll stop rising soon!

The 03z ICON suggests snow unlikely at sea-level and ASL important for tonight as the DP never get below zero till after the snow has passed. So Downs and other elevations favoured and maybe 1.5 h of snow but rain to sleet before. As it moves into the far SE better chance of all snow:

Don't forget about me, Tom! Proud Tottenham fan through and through!

It's fairly chilly this morning, with the temperature around 1c. Good luck to everyone later, may the snow fall thick and fast!

ARPEGE similar to ICON for Thursday in that it doesn’t get snow further north than south Midlands to Norfolk before sliding back south. Be nice for us if they are more on the money, because unlike GFS and EC, less cold air from SW likely to be kept at bay.

This eve looks very marginal indeed but our benefit in the east will be that the front arrives in the eve/night hours so this will help support the temperatures required - never the less gearing myself up for the worst (ie rain to sleet) but wouldn't be surprised to see snow at the same time. Each chart has a slightly different interpretation - some give 3cm others give nothing. Will be an interesting watch if nothing else...

Thursday looks a bit touch and go too, I'm hoping the bulk of the precip hits in evening rather than in daytime.

What? This forecast? We've had several years in a row in the past when never had a forecast like this. It's as good as it gets given the marginal situation.

I think that actually sounds quite upbeat

I think there could be 3 snow events before next week. Tonight, Thursday and the weekend. Might not be huge amounts but still chance of seeing settling snow, especially Thursday in my mind.

I think it'll warm up briefly after Sunday but then signs are showing for a possible scandi high forming, introducing what we all love in the SE, an easterly wind...

As we all know it's so hard to forecast that we dont even know if anyone will get snow tonight but it's one of the more exciting weeks of the winter coming up for me.

ECM snow totals chart for Thursday night looks promising, though plenty of differences on other model output

Good morning peeps

Hope you all are well. Just arrived into Milton Keynes from London so I will be keeping an eye out here to see how the day pans out. Will be leaving for my commute back at 6 from here this evening so will be keeping you up to date.

Hope you all have a great day I just hope this turns out like last week. I remember there was hardly any lying snow in MK but when I got back home to Walthamstow we had a good covering. Fingers crossed for later tonight and Thursday.

Take care all for now

kind regards

We had the dreaded email from school yesterday outlining the risk from the forecast of 1 to 3CM lol!

I’m quite optimistic about Beds and Cambs area later for snow!
